Neither Calgary or Edmonton have the cap space for Anderson and Edmunson respectively. Both would need to send out a similar cap to make it work.

MTL would retain salary on both players too.

That's not how it works, Cap hit remains the same. It's only the real money being paid to them that drops.

There's no way Hughes is retaining on Josh Anderson for the next 5 years. Heck he wouldn't even retain for 3 years on Jeff Petry. he sure won't on Anderson. I can definitely see retention on Edmundson though.

"Realistic" somehow includes Calgary paying a 1st for a player they will have to then pay another 1st to dump in the summer?

First is going the wrong way in the Anderson trade. You can't seriously think a team would trade a first in a stacked draft for an overpaid bottom 6 winger who is defensive liability. There are many more players they would go for
SydBarrett liked this.

Montreal fans apparatus don't understand that Sean Monahan to Minnesota will never ever happen. Stop trading him to us. It's a bait or trolling because none of you guys care to understand the reality

More complicated than that, but works out about the same.
You can spend up to the cap limit in a season. Remaining money and cap hit are lower at the deadline for a player, but so is the amount a team has left to spend, so it works out the same unless a team has been banking cap space.

Anderson has one of the worst contracts in the league. You will have to include multiple first round picks to dump 5 years of him

I don't see MN even thinking about Monahan unless it's for something like a 4th round pick. Maybe add some conditions that could make it higher with Playoff success if it'll make you feel better. But everyone knows the Wild don't have Playoff success.
