Every team says no. NYI for sure says no. The Car trade actually is creative.

Although I don't think the Canucks do the trade with Canes as you suggest, it's the type of trade that gets done. Two long term bad contracts for one another
Isles don't need a centre, and more silliness basing a trade on a extension. No way the Isles even trade Dobson for Horvat even up.

I like the originality of your Carolina trade but we still say no. Miller’s contract is a big negative

Kotkaniemi’s deal isn’t a bad one. The buy out is way too cheap for it to be considered a bad long term deal

You're right. Next three years are very cheap buyouts.....I guess that's one reason the Canes don't trade for Miller.

Miller is bad defensively so he wouldn’t play in our scheme well and the contract will age poorly, quickly. 2 reasons

If you’re talking about buyouts then it’s a bad deal

The buyout is one of the reasons it isn’t a bad deal, yes. Doesn’t mean its the only reason.

Even considering a buyout tells you how much of an oopsie that deal was.

Even if KK’s deal was bad, Millers is much worse. Besides KK is a perfect fit for the Canes system, and Miller is one of the worst fits for the Canes system. They didn’t want him last year, the Canes certainly don’t want him now.

Canes aren’t considering a buy out its just a fact of the deal. The deal hasn’t been an oopsie.

Canes easily pass. Kotkaniemi's 22, he's already one of the best play drivers in the NHL, he's already fantastic defensively and his production is getting better. Miller is on the wrong side of 30, signed for way too much for way too long, has already shown he throws temper tantrums on the ice, and most importantly for a Canes system, CANNOT DEFEND. This is a long term future 3C on a reasonable deal for a buyout candidate the second his scoring regresses in 2-3 years.

No if you’re discussing why a deal isn’t bad and you mention “if the team doesn’t wants to get out of the contract it won’t cost them too much in dead cap money it’s a bad contract. If it was a good contract that shouldn’t come to mind much less be relevant

You’re trying too hard. Its just a fact of the deal. Buyouts are always relevant. Each player is only one injury away from being shells of their former selves or have an injury that nags on for seasons. I get it mentioning KK just triggers people

No people don’t say someone has a good deal bc if they would have a terrible injury and would be “shells of their former selves” then they have a good buyout. That’s some insane criteria for what a good contract is.
