Columbus isn't giving up a young cost controlled Cole Sillinger for Bo Horvat who wants the moon for a contract next season. Unless Voracek is out for good. The Blue jackets won't have the salary to sign Horvat long term.

Fair enough. Just noticed Sillinger was seemingly having a down year and thought he may be a piece with the emergence or Johnson

None of this makes sense for the Jackets. Trading for an $8M center when we don't have the cap space another big, slow, overpaid RD and a 7th round pick is ridiculous. And then to give up the hometown first round pick at our weakest position, a cheap young RD that has really impressed and a second round pick while rebuilding is outrageous.

If there is a deal to be made for Horvat, it starts with Boqvist or Ceulemans in my opinion and definitely does not include meyers.

He's far too young still to give up on. He's still the 4th youngest player to play in the league this year and the 2nd youngest behind Slafkovsky to play regularly. The only way he really could become expendable for the Jackets is if they end up drafting a top center in 2023, Johnson takes the other top 6 spot and Voronkov earns the 3C spot over Sillinger. Sillinger is well ahead of Johnson in terms of center development though imo so Johnson on the wing and Sillinger playing 2C is probably a more likely scenario if they do draft a solid center this summer.

I think Johnson has more upside and Sillinger may top out at 3C. I could actually see the Jackets shifting Sillinger to wing for awhile to try to get him going.

I disagree. Sillinger is already winning 44% of his faceoffs as a 19 year old and Johnson is only winning 24% of his. Sillinger is also killing penalties and showing decent defensive ability. Johnson is more obviously offensively skilled, but Sillinger looks like he's going to be a better center at the moment.
