Two teams that doesnt want to rebuild

Created by: Kyriakos_Grizzly
Team: 2022-23 Nashville Predators
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 10, 2023
Published: Jan. 10, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Could the prospect included in the trade be Jack Matier?
Trades
NSH
  1. Horvat, Bo
  2. Stillman, Riley
  3. 2023 4th round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Predators have been good lately and they want it to continue. Johansen is good, but Horvat is a big upgrade. Horvat signs an extension with the Predators. Stillman just a Cap dump - That's why there is a 4th round pick included.
VAN
  1. Johansen, Ryan
  2. 2023 1st round pick (NSH)
Additional Details:
Johansen can be the short term replacement for Horvat. I was thinking of including Fabbro in the trade, but there just isn't Cap space. Maybe a prospect instead?

Why would the Canucks do this? If they wanted an 8m fwd they would just extend horvat

Why would Nashville trade Ryan johansen for 2 x $8,000,000 only to sign Bo Horvat for around 8 x $8,500,000 to 8 x $9,000,000? And if Johansen for 2 x $8,000,000 is good then Allvin might just as well sign Horvat for Miller's money and keep him.

Does Horvat even wanna sign a extension with the Canucks?

Doubtful, I have family in London Ontario that are big Bo Horvat fans. And they've said that he and his family are moving back full time to London Ontario and he want's to play close to home. So if that's the case it bolds well for Detroit this summer as a free agent.

His asking price could very well be higher than Miller's. Who knows.

He's looking for more than 7x8M most reports have him in the $8.5M to $9.0M range.

its been reported he is looking for a similar deal as miller. Canucks havent offered him 8m yet. So back to the original point, if the canucks were comfortable having another player with term of 8m on the roster next year and beyond, they would just give Horvat his ask. Ryjo is a downgrade massively yet is at the aav the canucks dont want to go to

Also this just helps the Preds, if they had horvat on their team hes going to lesser than value of the 1st round pick bc they wont be down in the standings. its a lose lose for the canucks

No one knows what he is asking for, the same people reporting the asks have also reported other numbers. They are all over the map getting feed information as damage control.

But You are getting lost in semantics here. you think an extra 500k is a breaking point for the canucks to do this trade?

I could careless if Vancouver makes the deal or not.

Nashville is barely a playoff team, So why would they potentially give up 2 x $8,000,000 of Ryan johansen for for 8 x $8,000,000 Bo Horvat. Horvat doesn't make or break that Nashville is barely a playoff team. Horvat will be traded. it just won't be to Nashville.

Johansen would be a big downgrade from Horvat, but do the Canucks want to pay two guys 8-million till they are 35-36?

they dont want to pay 2 8m guys now bc it impacts their ability to extender Petterson, thats the point
Ryjo is a bad player and is on the books impacting that cap space for an EP extension, its lose lose

do you tihnk im advocating this is a good deal for nashville as well? bc im not.
I am just saying the simple logic behind one part doesnt make sense in terms of the cap hit. There is multiple reason why this dela makes 0 sense

Canucks fans are so desparate. In order to get a fair return, they constantly put "comes with extension". Silly thought. Though this post came from a Wing fan. Extension trades should be banned.

I would say no...Gotta think he has had enough of the failing Canucks. Some team might do but even I think a 7 year contract is too much, and 8m is high.
But I do think the Wings and maybe the Sabres are good destinations for him.

Just a note. I'm not picking on the Canucks. I think players who have made good money as RFAs and now more willingly to explore being a UFA and signing with other teams for their own reasons .
IMO Matthews does not resign with the Leafs. And even the Wings, who I think have a great future....could lose Larkin to free agency. Not the Wings fault but maybe Larkin has a different agenda
