Ehlers signed in october of 2017, Nylander in December of 2018. Dude, we are literally on the most popular cap site on the internet, the information including dates, caphits, cap percents and everything else is literally right there.
And You cant use a 'potential' contract as a bench mark because it doesnt exist, you gotta stop making stuff up and do the smallest bit of research instead of regurgitating whatever you think you remember nick kypreos ranting about.
Nylander has always been paid at at least market value, and you hoping back and forth between made up points doesnt change that.

Thats literally what Nylander did, he wanted 8M because he didn't want to be paid far less than Marner. Nylander wasn't worth 7M when he signed that deal. Theres a reason why Dubas gets goofed on for his negotiation skills and thats Exhibit A. Also doesn't matter when they signed, their contracts expired the same season. Ehlers signed an early extension, while Nylander literally waited until the last possible second.

You never miss an opportunity to miss the point to do you?

You mean yourself? You literally made up a bunch of crap about Patrick Kane. Just cause his QO is 10M doesn't mean Meier is going to ask for 10M long term.

No, he asked for 8 million because every player starts high, weve been over this and anyone who has ever negotiated anything knows you start high. And he was worth that because he was paid market rate for his production.
And it does matter when they signed because that is when the cap was set at a specific number and players salaries and cap hits are rated against the actual cap when they are signed.

7m was high for him, he asked for 8.5m or something stupid and held out for like half the year because he wouldn't budge then showed up out of shape to play. All he cares about is money, hes proved that yet you think hes gonna sign a "fair" contract lol.

Yeah, you have zero idea about how negotiations went at all. You dont understand what an opening offer (ie, the leafa offered him like 4 to start) and you dont understand that they literally negotiated down to where he was a bit at a time.
He also didnt show up out of shape, he was literally on the ice practicing and playing the entire time in Europe. Dude you really gotta stop getting all your leafs info in cliffs notes from talk radio.

Oh look, another post and you're wrong. When I said out of shape I didn't mean overweight. Matthews even said he was just jacked but wasn't in game shape. If you dont understand hockey just say that because all your posts indirectly say that.

Lol, this all started because you totally thought nylander signed after matthews and marner and you've been moving goal posts trying to be right since. It's a bad look bud, and you're not gonna make it work with "you dont know hockey" jabs.
And nylander was very much in physical game shape in every way when he came back, but then youd know that if your sources on the matter weren't a morning call in show

I never said Nylander signed after Matthews and Marner, I said he asked for a lot because he didn't want to end up signing for significantly less than Matthews and Marner but mainly Marner.

Why wouldn't he? He can demand 10 million and if he doesn't get it, then he can get his QO or become an FA and then go wherever he wants. He has all the power in his next deal.

Also we get it, you love Kane and no matter how terrible of a person he is, you are going to pump his tires. He's the hero of hockey bros.

Yeah Meier is the better player, but I think Nylander would still produce at the same rate in San Jose. Auston Matthews hasn't even been anything special this year like the guys been a passenger most nights, Nylander has looked better for a lot of the season. I think Matthews has benefited from Nylander just as much as Nylander benefits from playing with him.

You may be right.
In all fairness TOR doesn't do this deal IMO. It's a lot to give up to MAYBE improve your team 5-10 goals in the regular season and playoffs combined over Nylander's production.

The only reason I would be interested is I feel like Nylander is going to want to be paid like Matthews and Marner, at least if we trade for Meier we can jump the gun and get him signed 1st hopefully to a 8.5Mx8.

You think a team is paying 10M long term for Meier lol? Im pretty sure he would take 8.5M and run with it if he can.

I dont know if you're allergic to facts or what, but it was reported a tonne that the Tavares contract created an internal cap structure and that Nylander asked for a huge contract with the belief that Marner was going to get a lot and Nylander didn't want to be significantly outlaid by Marner. I never said he signed after, but I guess making things up is easier for you than admitting you dont know what you're talking about.

yes, my sources are much better than people whose entire job is to speculate in the dumbest and loudest way without a shred of proof and the people who regurgitate their nonsense online like a bad game of telephone.

Why wouldn't he? The cap is going up, he's been a point a game player on a terrible team and he's just starting his prime. And if he's on a team he doesn't want to be on, he can demand a huge contract or get his QO and walk to FA. He has all the power
