    Dont think the Leafs would give up a first for Hartman. But doesnt it make more sense for Hartman to be kept, hes only making 1.7 and that would be a useful contract to have during the first year of the big Parise and Suter cap hits

    You have another player suggestion? The Sabres need a RHD that is also a vet and Dumba fits that mold with Sabres having more younger fowards than they can play. I think the value is pretty on par for both teams. Krebs plays on the 4th line while Dumba easily slides into the top 4. Another suggestion?

    More crazy extension talk. Telling Dumba to likely waive his NTC for Buffalo and hurry up and sign a contract because we don't want you around any more as we make a playoff push. Of course when there is no agreement to waive or ink a new contract, you welcome back Dumba for a Cup run.

    That's way too much for Minni to give up for Horvat.

    The Sabres don't need a veteran RD. I don't think Dumba fits Buffalo at all.

    We do?

    Last I checked our top 4 is samuelsson/dahlin and power/jokiharju

    We do need two good defencemen that can play shutdown role
    Bryson awful and Jokiharju mediocre
    I’m sure KA will address at least one good player in off season
    Btw I understand whoever was frustrated by mittelstadt but he’s in line for 50 point season if healthy. Showing progress at least
    I wouldn’t pay a nickel for Dumba now.
    Minnesota doubtfully resigns him
    Lose nothing for small risk and have advantage in negotiations if KA wants him
    Bo Horvat my forward fantasy player for Sabres and with cap restraints think he’ll be available too if the price is right

    Don't think Minnesota does that Canucks deal since they need more cost effective players for their dead cap. Also Bo would want more than 7 million based on reports

    I agree, Bryson is terrible, Jokiharju can't stay healthy. I don't think they need dump a bunch of assets on a veteran Dman just for the sake of having a veteran Dman though. Dumba himself is just not a good option. In a trade or as a UFA.

    I do
    Murphy from Chicago or Savard from MTL could be good fits
    Don’t think we wanna spend the Cap space on a guy like Dumba

    Agree. The cap is going to squeeze teams into unloading solid d that’s not big on scoring but can defend
    I’m sure KA and our huge cap space makes it possible and small handful of teams that can add much

    Don’t really agree about Horvat’s linemates
    If we’re gonna play him in a 2way role, against other teams’ top lines, then I’d like to see guys with some defensive acumen to their game (like Tuch for example, or Konecny who i mentioned before)
    Guys like Skinner & Savoie are much more offensively oriented & not know for their play in the defensive zone

    laugh On the Bo Horvat signing, No way in hell is Horvat signing for 8 x $7,000,000 try more like 8 x $8,000,000 if not closer to 8 x $8,500,000 and Minnesota doesn't have the cap space for him.

    What's so funny is this newby thinking, That Bo Horvat who's on pace for 61 Goals and 93 Points is signing for $7,000,000 per. Obviousy he hasn't been watching what's going on here lately.

    The chemistry between tuch and Thompson incredible. Doubt they’d mess with it. Instead of konecny we have internal solutions and we already blew bank with horvat. Get couple good d and be playoff team next year
    Dahlin cozen power all going to be huge contracts

    Sure
    But putting 2 guys who don’t play defense on a line where they’ll need to play defense isn’t a good idea

    And Skinner & Tage have had just as much chemistry as Tuch has had

    *shrugs*

    Not sure where the talk is coming from but it doesn't make a lot of sense seeing that they have three d-men 32+yrs. old.

    Korczak's name has come up in various chat rooms (and yeah, he'd be a good get) but cap-space dictates that VGK needs quality players on cheap contracts and he's in that category.

    Don't get me wrong, those two would be great adds and the Sabres have the wherewithal to land either, but I can't see their teams trading them for the reasons mentioned above.

    Very insightful comments, your knowledge is very refreshing on this site.
    "Btw I understand whoever was frustrated by Mittelstadt but he’s in line for 50 point season if healthy. Showing progress at least"
    Casey seemed to give up about 10 games into the season, Jost has pumped some energy into him and Victor.

    While the Leaf fans hate him, only Reilly has more ice time no one PK's more than he.

    Dahlin=$9.5KK
    Cozen=$7.3KK
    Power=$6.5
    minimum contracts if they follow Thompson footsteps and take less to keep the team together.
    One more RHD (Schenn would probably be the least expensive), stabilize the GK, improve the PK and it will be an interesting decade.

    No, he wouldn't be a good addition. He would cost a ton to acquire and would have a massive cap hit. We already have our top 2 centers and have a ton of options in the pipeline as well. Giving money and max term to players his age, especially after handing over prime assets is foolish, especially when it isn't even a need!

    We have plenty of leaders and players growing jnto leaders on this team, such a move is unwarranted, unnecessary and will destroy our cap space situation
