What would you like for Peeke? You already have werenski, boqvist, blakenburg, gudbranson, bean, gavrikov, ...

I mean, yeah, Anaheim would do that trade, but why not just promote Klum to get it done?

Ok... so a 1st for edmundson but how exactly do you think barrie has positive value to ask for a 4th ? You'll need to add Bourgault for us to take him on

Peeke also already has a 3 year extension signed, the likely candidates to be moved are Boqvist and Gavrikov. Columbus needs more defensive defenseman like Peeke, and less offensive defenseman like Boqvist and Bean.

personally, I like this deal for the habs. Get a 1st for edmundson, and Barrie who could be flipped later on for more futures, worst case we keep him until the end of his contract and he walks

What we'd like for him is a long and productive career as a Blue Jacket. We need his skillset.

Also doesn't hope that Yamamoto is basically valueless to us, being Yet Another Winger.

Bourgault to dump Barrie?!?!?!?!? tears of joy

Barrie currently has 29 points in 42 games. (Needs to add Bourgault to dump his cap)
Edmondson currently has 5 points in 31 games. (Worth a 1st rounder somehow?)

And i know you're going to say Edmonson is amazing defensively but really? is he? Go look at the numbers Barrie isnt that bad defensively. Barrie is one of the best PP QBs in the league.

I don't want to take Barrie and block Barron or another RHD during this development period. I'd be okay with Bouchard instead of picks or prospects if we can work something out. Could be our next Petry, but acquired younger. Still need that top pairing RHD, but even if he's 3rd pairing 2nd PP long term I'd be happy with that. Better than having Barrie short term when it isn't going to benefit us beyond maybe another pick.

If Edmundson won't net a 1st without strings attached (beyond retention), just keep him for next deadline. We can take a lower return next year if necessary, but no need to sell low now, especially if we are retaining through next season.

makes sense, unless we can instantly flip barrie for something of value to us i guess it'd be better to leave him in Edmonton

This might not be the place to have this discussion, but am I the only CBJ fan that isn't high on Peeke? He seems like an undisciplined defensive D-man who is both allegedly a physical presence and defensively sound, but appears to be neither of those things. He's more bull-in-china-shop than a productive NHL D-man imo. He spends as much time on the ice as Savard did, but Savard was at least doing it on purpose. He's an oversized Scott Harrington who also gets mad and takes penalties, instead of just being out of position and taking penalties.

I know his (reasonable) extension kicks in next year, but he's the kind of guy someone handsomely overpays for because he's a reasonably-young, right-shot physical D-man, but then consistently gets 0-0-0 -2, 2 PIM stat lines out of him. Maybe it's Columbus' system not doing him any favors, but I just don't see him doing the things people say he does, and he's definitely not a puck-mover. I'd trade him since his perceived value is very high, and clear the space now for a Jiricek-Ceulemans-Gudbranson/Blankenburg/Boqvist right side.

I think he's eventually Savard 2.0, which we badly need. He's not quite there yet. It took Savard a while to establish himself as well.
