I think the value is good on most of the deals but Compher is not worth a 1st, even a low one; a 2nd is more realistic.

Helm! Unfortunately, as much as I would like to see him in Washington for reasons of nostalgia to his time as a Red Wing, Washington already has far too many forwards with Protas and Snively in the AHL, and Helm wouldn't beat NAK out for a roster spot, so Washington would pass here.

Depends on what you need. The Avs needed 4th line last year in the playoffs, and Helm was easily above NAK for that role. He can't play higher in the lineup effectively, but he brings what you want from an energy line in the post-season.

I hear what you're saying, and for regular season purposes I might even agree. But Helm is a guy the Caps could use come playoff time imo. At that price, I'd say it's worth it.

I love Helm, I'll start there. But when I mention NAK, it's for a spot as a scratch, not even as a regular lineup guy. Helm brings playoff experience but of all the teams in the NHL, I'm not sure that Washington would be high on the list of teams who need playoff experience with how old the team is, and with NAK's quality play this year, I don't think it would be worth it to go get a different scratched player when it likely means losing NAK. I'm all for having good depth, but with NAK needing waivers and Protas+Snively already in the AHL, I don't think Washington would make a run at Helm, and Colorado could instead get a 5th (Or maybe more, Raffl got a 5th and I think Helm > Raffl) from another team that could more properly use Helm.

Is this how it feels to be a Habs fan?

Avs fans are in a unique position to tell you that Helm would in fact beat out NAK for a roster spot.

Perhaps, but NAK has improved since coming to DC. Toss up to me and if they are at the same level, I think DC would rather save the pick.
