What Smith is or isn't worth is a debate for another day. CHI isn't interested.

Why would Vancouver trade away a player in it's weakest position?

Clifton > Bear

Achan does no get Bjugs

Smith is not getting a positive return from a seller. Maybe a buyer who misses out on others, doubt it though.

The same Craig Smith who was just on waivers and could be had for free? Why on earth would a rebuilding Hawks team waste a pick acquiring a pending UFA? This is laughable!

Why is BOS trading Cliffy? That's a downgrade.

Cliffy is going to price himself out of Boston after this season and Bear is RFA so can come back on a reasonable deal.

maybe bos retains a bit and then CHI can flip him march 3rd at the actual deadline for another asset. not laughable at all if Chi is interested in getting as many picks as possible.

Believe me. Hawks aren't spending any draft pick to acquire Craig Smith, retention or not. Hawks will collect picks taking on contracts like Smith's from teams looking for cap space.
