Vancouver should do a lot of things that they don't and vice versa.

I think the Bjorkstrand trade was a much different situation, though that's just my opinion. Not saying Boeser is worth some ungodly haul by any means, but I think this is an apples and oranges comparison.

The Canucks get a much better deal in the offseason for Boeser. No point in trading him for pennies on the dollar now. Unless they get some overpay.

This is the worst trade proposal I've witnessed in a long time. You're not getting Boeser for two mid-round draft picks - let alone with money retained.

Cap strapped teams can't retain salary for multiple years.

It's still 5.2 off the books 🤷‍♀️

If you think he is worth playing on the top line then the Canucks have no reason to retain salary for a consistent 20+ goal scorer and ~50 pt player. If you drop the retention they may take the deal.

Brock Boeser is at least $2,000,000 overpaid, So it looks about right.

Bjorkstrand trade was a slightly different situation they were in a cap crunch and were forced to move someone after signing Gaudreau. There is nothing forcing the Canucks to trade Boesser so I think NJ would have to entice Vancouver with a bit better offer especially if they want retention.

I mean, I think he'd be a good trigger man with Jack and the Devils have had interest for a while. As for what the Canucks should do or what reasons they have for them, well, they haven't really made all these super sound decisions lately, yaknow?

Lots of reports of them wanting to shed money and making "unpopular" moves. So maybe the 5.2M is worth it, to them. Idk. I'm not in that front office. If I were, JT Miller would be a Ranger and OEL would still be in the desert.

No and here's why,
They are completely different trades,
One was to get cap complient, and they were willing to take the loss because they had just secured Johnny, the other is looking for a change of scenery. Boeser is still a good player, he is worth a fair amount more than what you have valued him here. My idea of a boeser trade for the canucks would be taking back shorter term, bad money and a pick in exchange for Brock.

NYI Bailey and their 23 1st for Brock
Pure pick value look for 2 2nds

Beginning of december, and its Taj, I have discussed this in other forums, it was situational and Boeser would go for a fair amount more than that value right now

Link to something saying Boeser's value has increased? Also it's Drance, not Taj. I just didn't want to dig for the article in The Athletic.
