You need to trade for the rights of Drouin

I would sign him to an offer sheet. If they decide to match then offer sheet Palat. They can't afford everybody

Pretty sure it's meant to be an offer sheet, But i think Yzerman gets Drouin signed before offer sheets can go out at free agency time.

Like a couple of the comments above, I am assuming you are using an offer sheet to sign Drouin? For that kind of money ($7 Million AAV), it would be more worth it for the Leafs to spend a tad more and sign Colton Parayko to an offer sheet. As a Leafs fan, I certainly love that Dumba deal, but I doubt that's going to get it done.

They'd have to make a trade to get their 2018 third rounder back. They'd need to send their 2018 1-3 picks as compensation

So Drouin scores 21 goals and he's entitled to 7m, Brown scores 20 goals and gets 950.000. How disrespectful. Yea I know Drouin is better and will be a superior player but that isn't how you build a team. Drouin has not shown he is entitled to top money.

If Drouin is worth $7m/year, what are Matthews, Nylander, and Marner going to get paid on their next contracts? You'd easily top $30m in just those 4 players alone.

Wild pass on the trade. Kapanen might be the Leafs best AHL asset, but that doesn't mean he's worth as much to the Wild.
