Schneider is way better than Drysdale, Zegras is horrible defensively. Rather keep Laf and especially Schneider.

You think CBJ is going to retain 3.7m in cap for the next three seasons for only two 1st? lol

You also think the Ducks are going to trade away their best 2 future pieces for virtually nothing the Ducks wants or need? lol

Calgary doesn't consider that.
Goodrow-Cap dump
Jones- LD Prospect we don't need(Sutter would also refuse to play him)
3rd-is a mid round pick
That barely covers the cap dump, let alone getting one of our top prospects Zary. Also we can't take cap dumps since we are so tight on space next year

And Laf is a 30 point player whereas Zegras is a 60+. Schneider hasn't played a full season yet so lets leave the jury out on that one, not to mention he has much better defensive partners to play with to cover for his mistakes.

To even assume the Ducks would move either of them, let alone both, is pure fantasy, and that trade being enough to get it done is laughable. We would assume that the Rangers GM was either huffing glue or we were on an episode of Punked if you called us up with that offer.

Justin Braun and Ben Harpur are not better defensive partners. Laf is still young but he is a terrible skater. Still wouldn't trade him just yet. I don't see any reason for the ducks or rangers to move any of them.

These all heavily favor NYR.

I'm curious would CBJ make this trade without the retention?

Really depends on how the draft goes with what kinda moves they'll take a look at. If they end up drafting Michkov somehow then Laine could definitely become expendable. Chytil could make for an interesting 2/3C mixed in with Johnson, Sillinger and Voronkov/Kuraly. Lots to figure out with the team's future in the next 6 months.

100%.

Not sure if I was an outlier, but I wouldn’t necessarily have a problem trading Laine. CBJ were expecting an improvement on last year, and Laine was lined up for big things. With the way this year has gone, and the next 1-2 year may go, it just might be right time, wrong place with Laine. Agreed that retention might be the issue here, though.

As for this offer, I wouldn’t be opposed, considering how good this draft is. Agreed that Chytil could be a great long-term 2C/3C with Sillinger. We’d have to move out some Fs to clear space, but could be an intriguing roster…particularly if we finally have some lottery-luck.

Schneider is better than Drysdale? He plays about 3-4 minutes less a night vs lesser opponents. Schneider’s CF% is is worse than Drysdale’s. And he’s older.

And then when it comes to Laf and Z it’s not even close. Zegras is the better player be a pretty good margin.
