Great deal for Avs. I think Flyers would want a better deal

you could probably get a 2023 or 2024 first from LA, they are second in their division and pretty well into a playoff spot, unless that changes at the deadline the 1st would likely be in the early 20s or even late 20s

When you add a player on a trade in CapFriendly, you can hit the '+' below the player to add retained salary instead of typing that you would retain

It is but I think they'd rather give up a bit more to get 50% retained with the cap situation.

I would accept that offer as the Los Angeles GM. If your GM insists on a first, I would substitute the 2024 first but not this year's.

I like how Flyers fans can't be bothered to do the math on 1/3rd of Hayes contract (it's $2,380,952 retained making his salary $4,761,905)

You're the loser that can't type his salary into a calculator and divide it by 3.

And the actual number does matter. You see, there's this thing called the salary cap and teams have to fall under it. If you don't know how much salary you're trading, you don't know if the other team can take the contract. Pretty novel idea on a site called Capfriendly. ****.

The main issue is that the Avs would never be able to sign a top college f.a again if they moved Meyers in his first season after him picking the Avs out of all the teams interested.

Possibly but they understand the business. Also as you said, they'd likely have to give up a bit more anyway and I think there are other prospects they'd accept.

I think the Avs understand how to do business without burning a prospect bridge. There is so much that goes into picking what team they sign with, that I will always doubt the ability of an under 25 year old to maturely seperate any emotion from business. Too many adults don't. They are still green and it will be brought up by the agents of future options as they go over teams.
Edit: Forgot to ask, what prospect would you be more inclined to move?

Any off the reserve list bar Behrens probably, Ranta, Bowers, Maltsev, Kaut (if you consider them all still prospects). Pretty much any bar Behrens and Olausson (and Newhook/Byram if you still count them), and Annunen because we don't have any other goalies of note.
