Zhilkin is promising, but he has only played in junior so far. Most players only make it out of junior if they have an offensive game. The rest have to be very good at something in particular to carve out a role in pro hockey. Also, I don't know how much weight the rumors hold, but if Dubois is still trying to leave WPG ASAP, then WPG only ends up with a maybe prospect and nothing else to show for it... Unless they win the cup this year, then they would have a cup to show for it, i guess.

Roslovic might not be having a great year, but he is still a pretty good long term piece. Same with Laine in the right situation. So, idk... hindsight is still TBD. But as it stands right this moment, WPG probably got the best player in the deal.

Win-win as of now. As long as Dubois signs long term (or if they get a haul for him) don’t see it being heavily in favor of one team

I think it's a loss for both and here's why. When they were drafted there was a lot of hope and potential for these players. Then they started player and they both had a immediate impact once they played in the NHL. 2 solid players with different skill sets. Attitude problems/personal problems is really what led to this trade. Since then I'd say neither has really quieted things down and been able to be a force on their new team. In fairness to Laine, he has been injured and hasn't had stability from his coaches or team. I think Columbus wins at the 5 year mark

Both teams lose if laine continues to be injury prone and Dubois leaves WPG.

If Winnipeg wins a cup and/or gets a haul back for Dubois. It probably ends up as a win win for both teams if laine can get healthy.

CBJ wins the trade by a mile if laine gets healthy and Dubois leaves for nothing if jets decide to go for it and let chips fall where they may.

I think at the very least you could say the trade was fair. Hard to say who "won" or "lost" at this point because their stories aren't completed, but the value is definitely fair!

I'd say the Jackets feel like winners because they got a couple guys that want to be in Columbus for a guy that didn't want to be. Winnipeg will very much depend on what happens with Dubois in the future, but they can certainly come out as winners too still.
