Trade reports and Jets lines vs PIT

Created by: Z0ra
Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 13, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I assume Barron won't be playing today because of an illness that kept him out of the lineup vs Buffalo. I also think Samberg will be in after scoring last night. If Samberg doesn't play, Heinola will be the one that plays with Schmidt.

Reports have said that Chevy is trying to make a trade for a top 6 winger. Heinola and Elias Salomonsson are pieces that could be involved.

Also reportedly the Jets are the frontrunner to acquire Ivan Provorov. I don't exactly like this, because of our logjam at D.

Overall I believe Chevy will once again step out of his comfort zone and being agressive at the TDL.

Provorov I think it's better than he is showing in Philly, in that said I don't see why the Jets would need him. I feel like a decent two way forward would be a nice add for the Jets. Toews obviously would be a choice, not sure who else would fit the bill there. Alot of teams still trying to be in it right now.

If jets go for Provorov, I could see him doing well under Bownes as how Morrisey did and we could have 2 top pairing defenders like how the 2018 season with Morrisey, Trouba and Buff which was a deep D core. Obviously jets would need to move a roster defender currently and I have a feeling it won’t be Samberg, Morrisey or DeMelo. Pionk, Schmidt and Dillon would be the guys moving. For
prospects, we do have a big log jam on d prospects so I could see Heinola, Stanley and Possibly Chisholm moved. The luxury of spending at the deadline is we do have a strong prospect pool currently so we do have the luxury to move picks and a prospect or two. For adding a top 6 winger (middle 6 preferable) it would need to be a RW that could move up and down the lineup like a Copp or Lehkonen.

Jets aren’t front runners for Provorov? Marek and Friedman were just chatting about Provorov and said that Bowness would be a good coach for him, not that there’s any real traction there.

Also as for a top 6 winger, I don’t think there’s really been any major buzz around that. Chevy talked about seizing the moment if an opportunity presents itself at the deadline. Maybe that happens now, but I’m not sure. I agree though that Heinola is likely a piece they’re willing to move.
