Ottawa has been fairly consistent about not trading Greig. Almost as consistent as isles fans have been about not needing a fourth righty d. Especially not at that price.

Avs should probably say yes if ARI accepts the '24 1st instead of the '23.

The ask for Chychrun was Pinto so that was a none starter for the Sens. This proposed trade is an absolute no-go. I am not sure I would even want to make any amount of trade for him right now, I really question his Health and think there is a chance he turns into a Philly Ryan Ellis situation.

He’s been very good, but he’s a #2 d man and Arizona wants an insane return. Someone will pay it, but I wouldn’t want it to be my team.

I don't doubt his skill, and the fact he can play RD and his contract I would love OTT to get him, but not at the asking price, especially with his health problems.

He’s can’t be a right side d man no matter how much capfriendly insists he can do it.

The asking price is bigger than this trade … y’all acting like Greig is already a top 6 forward and Thomson is a top 4 RHD
The 2023 1st should be top 10 protected, I don’t know if adding Chychrun will make OTT a playoff team this year tho

Playoffs are a very long shot for OTT this season, but he could fill a big hole at Rd moving forward for the next 2 seasons at least, then I am not sure they would be able to resign him.
Grieg is really our top prospect he is over a point per game in the AHL this season and will likely be on the team next year, so yah I would say he is an untouchable, it is also really insurance if the team can't re-sign Debrincat.
Thompson, I wouldn't mind moving in the right deal, and the first, we should be using this year, as it is a deep draft.
I just wouldn't be willing to part with this package, as I still worry a lot about his health. I think there are many teams that do or he would have been traded already.

Fair enough, but I agree Greig would fit really well on that 3LW spot next year. OTT will have to trade Joseph for a cheaper 3RW IMO next year

Honestly, I wouldn't. He is a perfect 3rd line player. One of the top 10 fastest guys in the league, can add secondary scoring and is a great PK player, of which OTT is 5th in the league right now on PK.
Once Norris comes back you could roll a third line of Grieg - Pinto - Joseph that would be an amazing 3rd line and shelter Greig coming into the league.
At 2.9 I think he is worth every bit of it.

Sens can make more room by moving Zaitsev then Watson, Hammonic, and Holden are likely all gone after this year, all of which would add to about 9 M in cap space.
Now some of that will need to be given to other players to fill roster spots, but they could get more rookies on the team as well.

It’s gonna be hard fitting everyone with DeBrincat making 9M

That's the real question what is it going to take to keep him? Not to mention sign Pinto, Sanderson, and a true #1 goalie.
I am still 100% on the fence on if the sens should sign him long term or not.
Worth noting though that after next season they do also have about 5M coming off the books from buyouts and retained salaries. Murray, Bobby Ryan, Colin White, Del Zotto.
That Cap jump in the next 5 years to over 95M they are projecting can't come fast enough.

I do think this might be girard trade that actually happens
Would prefer it being the 2024th instead and Välimäki involved instead of ghost, more that avs ensure they have a depth dman and 2c on the books next year

It was made clear Greig would not be available for trade.

I hope they have the same feeling about the 2023 first.

Chychrun is not really the type of D-man they need anyway, and also for cap considerations going forward

Brannstrom is already not getting much PP time and he could be the best PP QB on the team (Sens fans opinion in majority), Norris has been injured all season. Splitting PP TOI is already a problem, you make it bigger by acquiring Chychrun

Another guy like Artem Zub is exactly what they need. And in terms of cap too

Doubt he gets that. He's not worth more than Stutzle who will make 8.35 starting next year

He's going to be signed around the same amount as Stutzle and Tkachuk or will be traded if that's not possible.

Ridly Greig, Angus Crookshank and JBD will be on the team next season so that will help the cap situation

I just did the exercise again today, DeBrincat at 8.5, Pinto at 3.0, Brannstrom at 1.5, Brassard 0.75, a backup at 1.0 and everybody fits

Could be any team, but who’s NHL caliber RHD behind Pulock-Dobson-Mayfield ? You got depth on the left side with Pelech-Romanov-Aho-Wotherspoon-Salo-Bolduc, but not RHD NHL caliber dman
