Funny. Seider and your unprotected first round pick would be the price for our franchise center who isn’t even on the block.

Zero chance in hell Vancouver accepts that offer.

And you're at least $1,000,000 short on both Horvat and Larkins contract.

A good guideline when it comes to trading: Pick - Player - Prospect. If you can't make a trade with one of each then pieces aren't good enough.

Reporting says Pettersson wants out

Literally no reports say anything like that. His agent says that he loves Vancouver and will begin contract extension talks as soon as he is allowed to. If he wants out, he would request a trade, or refuse to sign with them when his contract expires. A person who wants out wouldn't start talking about a contract extension a year before his current one expires

Michael Russo of the Athletic reported that Pettersson is going to want to move on, and that “there is some behind-the-scenes stuff that will make him go elsewhere.”

Talk about taking a quote and completely twisting in a way that is just completely wrong. Michael Russo is a Minnesota Wild reporter, and he clearly stated that it was HIS opinion, not something that will actually happen. This isn't a report. This is simply a person's opinion. Pettersson's agent said that Pettersson wants to start contract negotiations as soon as possible. You are clearly just here to troll...

Russo said? "it's my opinion there is some behind-the-scenes stuff that will make him go elsewhere." ??? That's a pretty weird thing to say, knowing full well how it would be taken out of context. Do you have a link to Russo's or pettersson's agent's quote?

He loves Vancouver but he hates losing? That's not exactly a ringing endorsement of his intention to stay (especially for a team like the Canucks)

Every NHL player hates losing. If the Canucks can lay out a plan for Pettersson and the Canucks for a long term solution, he very well could sign. People thought he was gone over a year ago because of the same exact thing

No, first you said that he wants to start extension talks as soon as possible, this quote sounds more like, we'll talk once we're allowed to and see what happens.

Like, what are you expecting his agent to say? "Petey thinks this town blows donkey d and he can't wait to leave for a team that has a shot at contending this century?"

If he doesn't want to stay, why would they start contract extension talks this summer? His contract doesn't extend this summer. If he wants out like Matthew Tkachuk, he will simply refuse to sign all together

Because if the team is willing to pay a max contract, I'm sure any player in the league would be willing to play anywhere. Again, I don't think any agent in history has gone out and said on behalf of his client, "**** this town, we're out." I'm a Detroit fan and both larkin and his agent were saying all the right things a year and a half out, but here we are a month before the trade deadline and nothing. To say there's no fire when someone reputable just said there might be smoke is as absurd as my trade proposal.

Yikes!

Hey OP, we might as well throw in Seider, Bedard and Raymond for EP. You've gone into full supermarket sweep mode in free agency and now we don't have cap to retain them at the end of their ELCs.

You don't understand cap management. When your homegrown superstars are coming off their ELCs and require room for their raises you trade your aging but still effective veterans. Kubalik will be coming off the books, Perron will be coming off the books, Myers will be coming off the books, Sundqvist will be coming off the books. You trade Fabbri for more assets, trade larkin and horvat 2 or 3 years in to make room for Kasper and bedard moving to center, cap dump chiarot after year 2, Pasta will be a highly tradeable asset should Raymond surpass him, as will ep40 once bedard surpasses him.

Having too much talent is a significantly better problem than having too little.

Even the agent of a kid about to sign his elc isn't going to come out and say **** this team. The list of athletes that said one thing and done another is longer than... well, it's very long

Of course they won't say they want out, however if they truly didn't want to stay on the team, why would they even consider starting contract negotiations this summer??? His contract doesn't expire for another year so there is no rush, yet they want to start contract negotiations as soon as possible

Look, I apologize if you felt I was being disrespectful, but I do understand roster management. Let's just say that these highly unlikely acquisitions do happen. You'd need around $50-$60+ million to re-sign guys like Bedard, Petterson, Seider, Edvinsson, Cossa and Raymond. So moving Myers, Kuby, Perron and Fabbs etc won't be enough. Plus Peterson, Pasta, Larks and Horvat will be on NTCs. Unfortunately you can't just move whoever you like whenever you like. Even Copp is on an NTC. I'd love to have this team you've assembled, but you simply wouldn't be be able to keep that impressive young core together.
