Maybe you & French connection should focus on your own team (tooth & nail to make playoffs); don’t see too many Leaf fans asking for takes on our team.
I certainly never offer takes on flames or sabres b/c I really don’t care. Leafs live rent free in a lot of other fan’s heads I guess

Lol what? My team has won 2 cups in the last 3 years FYI. You made your account 4 days ago so it's really no surprise at all you haven't offered takes on other teams. The ones living rent free here are us in your head since you are clearly bothered by a random hypothetical proposed by the OP

Just weird that you (& Sabres fan) spend your free time offering inflammatory takes on other teams. Leafs are clearly in your head b/c you went out of your way (unprovoked) to attack them. Why would anyone do that?
You list Flames as your favourite team but claim to be a bolts fan?
I don’t trust anyone with two favourite teams #fakefan

Where did I "attack" the Leafs? Can you show me?

This is exactly what I was talking about in my Forum thread-post yesterday -- you make a comment on a trade or a player and people accuse you of being biased against the team and/or the fanbase. This kind of nonsense is both counter-productive and counter-intuitive. It's only "natural" that bad takes get more attention than good ones. Idle and rather benign speculation about whether Matthews will re-up or Dubas will get fired becomes "You're a Leaf hater."

He literally said in the preseason that Toronto is home to him.

Well then it must be true! It's like professional athletes have never said that and left a couple years later. Hopefully you aren't a lawyer for a living

It's just new users with big ego's, I really don't care that much. After a few months they will learn a how the league works. I never even denied that Matthews could re-sign. I think there is quite a high possibility he does. Regardless that is not the topic of the thread and if he does walk I think LA is a very likely landing place

These aren't likely new users and some at least, could be rehashes of older users that are embarrassed by their behavior or have been warned too many times or banned. I've seen this with at least one Leaf regular here over the last year alone.

I think Matthews potentially walks if the leafs team can't figure out how to have some playoff success and or they don't offer him a huge contract. If the Leafs continue to not have playoff success, and the Leafs don't offer Matthews an insane contract of at least $13M, Matthews walks; I mean it would be 8 first series post season losses in a row...a guy can only take so much.

Means absolutly nothing what he says. Not saying he won't resign, he seems to like it here, and also this trade is a laughable offer, but him saying he'll resign means absolutly nothing whatsoever.

Frankly, if the leafs don't win a playoff round and don't offer him 13+mil, I wouldn't really be mad at him for leaving, because I'd leave too lol. That said, if I had to make a prediction I'd say he stays. People seem to forget how rare it is for players of Matthews' calibre to leave.

If he walks for free believe me no one will celebrate more than me and Dubas would be the biggest clown in NHL history to allow that to happen.

You don't trade your best player while trying to win a cup. You play til the end and try to sign him

1. Only Kadri is 30+ of those players mentioned, Huberdeau is literally only 2 months older than Gaudreau.
2. Explain to me how Calgary has any relevance to your "factual" predictions. That is called deflecting because that's all you know how to do when you get called out on your baseless takes. Maybe you should focus on your class instead of making a fool out of yourself on here

I am not going to indulge you here sir. You love crapping on the Leafs and their fans. You have a massive bias against them and this is entertainment for you. You're just not worth talking to.

Sure it does. In Calgary, the team has had as many bad seasons as good ones with Gaudreau and then he left. Not sure why he decided Columbus was a better option but that's not been the case in TO. They are a top team and will continue to be for a long time yet. I know the anti leaf people on here, half the people on this site fall in that category, are desperate for him to leave but it's just not likely to happen.

There are a bunch of kids with no maturity level and act as if someone insulted their mommy who use this site. Sadly many are Leafs fans or at least they are as of Mitch and Matthews showing up.

He said Toronto is home. That's a major statement to make. And I believe him. He loves it here and he's going to stay.

Past experiences? Before JT no one left the team that drafted the as an FA. Now really the only other big name, is Gaudreau and left a backwater town to go closer to family. That now means all the Leafs players want to leave. Definitely no leap there eh? Gaudreau stays in Calgary, so does Tkachuk. He left and Tkachuk thought he needs to go to a better team. Funny enough both players lost out, since they both went to bad teams. But this whole story that Matthews is going to leave is just fuel for clicks. The media drives it on to get clicks because troll nation has wanted to see the Leafs burn for ever.

Think about what people on here have said since Matthews was drafted.

A) he wasn't generational
B) then Nylander had to be traded.
C) then Marner had to be traded because they couldn't keep him
D) then rielly had to go

Now Matthews is 100% leaving

Its just not going to happen
