Not a chance Monahan is worth that. Why not edit the trade since you agree?

That would be cheating. I like making ACGMs and then waiting a few months before publishing. Idk it just kinda gives perspective on how quickly things can change and how none of us really know anything.

    Edit: like I thought Monahan would get a 1st+ - I'm delusional!

I can't see US paying a first for Edmundson (never mind the cap math), but I think that Edmonton might well be a willing customer, especially if you took cap back (like Foegele or Puljujarvi). If the former, you'd only have to retain $750,000 to make the Oilers even this season and next; if the latter, you wouldn't have to retain at all because Puljujarvi's contract is up after this season.

Agreed. In hindsight, I don't see LA going for Edmundson but maybe someone younger and more mobile?

I definitely see Edmonton as a fit though! Thanks for your input! Respectful and insightful, as always.

I don't see Edmonton giving up a 1st for him. He's just not very good and he's having a terrible season this year. Is there any precedent for a 3rd pair defenseman being traded for a mid-1st? Especially one having a terrible season?

Even if Monahan were to get a first, it wouldn’t be from the Canes.

Well, I didn't think much of Ben Chiarot.

Well, I didn't think much of Ben Chiarot.

He was playing 1st pairing minutes in Montreal prior to the trade. Edmundson is playing 2nd / 3rd pairing and failing badly at it.

With Broberg emerging rapidly, I don't think Edmonton bothers acquiring a mediocre LHD. And they certainly aren't spending a first on one.

I mean, you're getting a top 10 pick and a first rounder, among four other pieces.

By 5v5 TOI/game he's 5th among Habs defenders... that includes Matheson who hasn't played very many games though.

    He's not a top-4 defender on a playoff team.

He doesn’t get PP minutes but he’s on the 1st pairing with Savard (who doesn’t play PP either). I think a coach would use him on the top 4 but the ideal would he on the 3rd pairing and 2nd PK unit

The Flyers just have no reason to trade Hart, you’d need to give up more value since Hart is still young and basically the first goalie the flyers have had in a while, that plus he’s an RFA so it’s not like he can just leave for nothing

Ahhhhh, my bad I missed the Bensen addition. I’m assuming you added him hoping he’s be the Florida pick? Either way I LOVE Bensen, so I apologize.
If I’m Philly, I think I counter with Bensen, Montreal’s ‘24 first (top five protected) a second and Justin Barron.
