I think this is quite expensive, but with the Season Boston is currently having (and the chemistry they're showing), I think you do whatever it takes to keep as many of these core players together as you can.

Love the deal. He's been a really good add for this BOS team and has shown he has potential to be the future 2C for this team.

I've always like Zacha but his skill set always leaves you wanting more. He has the skills to be a 20g/40a guy but he just isn't. The skill is there, just not the compete.

He's played really well this season.
Can move up/down the lineup or PP/PK.
And w/ Pasta-DK last week they were gold.

He's basically in the "where do I fit-in mode" w/ the new club (recall H. Lindholm was doing that last year, now he's acclimated and is in the Norris conversation).

Needs to finish more. 100%. But he's a Backlund/Hubbie/Backstrom "type" - more apples than cookies...

I like Zacha.. Dont like this contract.

Puts Boston in a very tough spot for retaining Pasta. With the performace bonuses basically already being met by Krejci and Bergy. Hall and Reilly have to be dumped/sold low on and you have to convince Pasta to sign.

Zacha just disappears for long stretches. He's so talented, but he's got no compete level. And the numbers are not good. 5G is terrible considering the exposure to Boston's offensive star power. He should be in double digit goals at this point in the season to warrant this type of extension.

I vote NO.

If this signing would preclude the Bruins from signing Pastrnak they would not have done it. If anything, it helps convince Pastrnak to sign.

I just think its gonna be quite tough cap wise. 4ish Million in Bonuses will have to paid next year. Swayman is do for a new contract. Pasta has the ability to go to FA and demand a Marner level contract. Unless both Bergy and Krejci come back you have to replace your 2C/1C with almost no money at all, and Teams wont be nice to then when theyre dumping cap.

All valid points. Necessity is the mother of invention. Bruins will find their way one step at a time with Pastrnak being at the top of the list.

Zacha in his first season with Boston is on pace for a career high of 50pts. Not bad when you consider he's having the 2nd worst shooting% of his career and currently is shooting roughly 33% lower than his pervious 3 year average. He's now locked up through his best prime years for under $5 million.

I say good signing.

It’s probably about $0.5m to $1.0m above expected for a 4-year extension. I am guessing Zacha’s versatility probably plays a big factor here since Boston has so much uncertainty with most their forward core looking at UFA next summer. He can play any situation, any position, on any line. And with his (very underrated) wrist shot alone, I would not be surprised to see 80-90 goals produced over life of contract.

Also, from his time in New Jersey, he was always one of the most popular players off the ice. High character, glue-guy. Imagine it’s no different in Boston.

Good for Pavel. He really is a good egg.

Anderson's deal was 7 years totalling 38.5M. Zacha's is 4 years totaling 19M. Not similar at all and Zacha has shown the Bruins enough this year for them to know that it's not a miss.

42 games, and hes got 5 goals.... that seems like a large overpay, especially for a team with cap issues (something the Bruins havent had until recently.) Hes got potential still...but few teams can afford to pay for that, including the Bruins

Seems like the days of the B's getting players to sign team friendly deals are over.

I guess Pasta will get $12 million then, to become the highest paid winger but not the highest paid Nhl'er.

Matthews will get the first crack at usurping McKinnon's deal to become #1, but only for a short time as then McDavid will surpass Matthews deal.
