I cant see the bruins keeping pasta at this point

Description
With zacha the question is just how we would need to trade a lot of players to get pasta sign the only way I could see it happening is the bruins signing pasta to an 7M contract next year and signing an other contract right after for 12m 8 years, so next year we still compete with bergy and the team and after that we do a good retool

But tbh I feel pasta will leave
So why not trading him

Yess Henrique might be weird on the 4th line but I think that deeper in the season we will need to rest krecji and bergy, because we can already see krecji can’t play 18 minutes per game, so adding Henrique could help relieve some play time on bergy and krecji so when we will be in playoff mode they will be more ready, next year we trade Frederic and krecji gone, zacha might moove to center but if it doesn’t work out we will have Henrique too

I dont think they sign Zacha, finalizing his deal unless they know they have the cap space or Pastrnak.

there is zero, ZERO, chance the Bruins trade pastrnak. They will keep him for the entire year and will re-sign him at the end of the season. not to mention this is a pretty poor offer for him. The Zacha signing has no effect on Pasta

Then in the summer Pasta signs with some contender leaving the Ducks holding an empty bag of nothing? Yeah, that isn't part of the rebuild plan so that's a no from the Ducks.

We'll gladly take a run at giving him a contract as a UFA though. You never know....

I wouldn’t be so sure that he resigns with the Bruins. Hypothetically, if he resigned with the Bruins, his chances at winning a cup past, at most this season and next depending on what happens this off-season, are going to be quite low, for more than likely the duration of his contract. Whereas he would have a better chance at cup for longer with another contender in their cup window. He is getting the bag regardless, it’s just a matter of where he will get the bag and whether or not he decides to chase a cup.

I know that they had agreed on terms of 8x10, but were just fighting over signing bonuses in potential lockout years. Now, since then he’s gone nuclear, so his agent might have changed that number.

I know the front office is ridiculously confident that they’re going to get him extended. He would have been traded in the off-season otherwise

If they trade him this year, and they are not, that is a horrible return.

We aren’t giving up anything for him in a trade, we will just throw a bag at him in FA is that’s what we end up doing

Just for math puposes.

Pasta at 11

Bergy, Foligno, Luke Schenn or similar type at 1m

Freddy at 2

Sway 2.5

Lauko, McLaughlin, Bussi, DiPietro other B’s RFA at 800k.

Trade or Reilly for FC and Grizz for pick/prospect.

Lineup

Marchy-Bergy-Debrusk
Hall-Zacha-Pasta
Freddy-Coyle-Lysell
Foligno-Beecher-Lauko

Lindy-Mac
Zboril-Carlo
Forbort-Schenn

Greer
McLaughlin

That puts you at 78m cap with 1 d slot left to fill and room to cover overages.

If need be Sway could be traded as well and replaced by Bussi/Keyser. Would suck but Ullmark makes him expendable and could get a decent return of picks/prospects while saving another couple million.

It’s not a problem to sign Pasta.

The problem arises if Pasta signs and Bergy retires.

BOS will have close to $20M in cap space next year, that's plenty of cap.

Also, I think Sweeney and Pasta are really close at signing a deal, otherwise I doubt Sweeney would've finalized the Zacha deal without knowing what his rosters cap structure will be next year.

And moving Pasta at the deadline just completely destroys this teams chance of winning the cup. I would rather keep Pasta as a rental if that means having the best possible chance of winning the cup.

What contenders have 11m to spend on a FA? Acting like the Bruins next year IF (big if) Krejci and Bergy retire won't continue to be a very good team. He knows the system, loves the city, has a ton of close friends as teammates
