Why in the heck would Wings make that deal? They could.get better than a pending UFA and a prospect who has shown nothing.

This is one of the worse Bertuzzi I have seen.

Lol Barbashev will get a bigger return than that.
A B-prospect and 2nd should do the trick.
A 3rd round pick is what you give for a 4th line player or 3rd line D.

I honestly think at this point Bertuzzi signs a 1 or 2 year deal with Detroit because it makes the most sense. His trade value has bottomed out and he is not going to get the the big contract that was expected if he had a good season.

Detroit declines. Retention on a top 6 guy for a guy that won't play top 6 here and another guy will probably never crack our NHL roster is not a fair deal whatsoever.

We need your 17th OA pick please! 🤣

I really hope this is the case. I'd mostly prefer him to be a life Red Wing but he seems to have checked out of Detroit since arbitration.

Trade value aside - separate argument - I keep seeing wings fans suggest bertuzzi re-ups b/c he’s having an off year. That makes zero sense - he’s a FA and free to sign anywhere. Maybe the fact that he’s had an off year encourages him to sign somewhere else where he can be more successful (better team with better line mates). Like a lot of FA’s the longer it goes - the less likely he is to re-sign. I have no idea if he will or if he won’t (lots of personal reasons we don’t know about) but it makes just as much or more sense for him to test the market than to just re-up.

Beauty of cap friendly - free to agree or disagree. We’ll see what happens, not that much longer - hope things heat up soon 🤞

Sorry but a pending UFA and an overrated prospect doesn't get Tyler Bertuzzi to Toronto.

And it's already been reported that Yzerman is in talks with Bertuzzi's agent on a new contract. Dregs mentioned it just recently.

Barbashev and Gudas are both worth more than that, especially Barbashev. Overpay for Bertuzzi.

Bertuzzi Value is low as his health and play have both been question marks. Kerfoot can be flipped for 2nd/3rd pick and Robertson or another B level prospect I don't see the Wings getting much more than that. We are no longer coming off a 30 goal season at just under a point per game.

Can they fetch a little more probably but I think the value is good for both. Barbashev had a good year last year but that was an overachievement like many of the blues last year.

Kerfoot is about equal to Bertuzzi's trade value. He's versatile can play in all situations and up and down the lineup. Remember we are talking about the current value of Bertuzzi not the Summer of 2022 value

Now I completely agree with that and I appreciate that. Not many CapFriendly users feel the way you do because they have to be right all the time.

I’m judging Barbashev by his whole career, and I’d be shocked if he’d be traded for anything less than a first. Gudas has had ups and down throughout his career, but his play during his three years in Florida, particularly this year where he’s excelling on a struggling team, ensures that someone would offer a first for him.
