I don’t expect Chytil to sign for that little especially after the Boldy extension. Boldy is obv better but it raised the market for all young productive forwards in general. I had Chytil getting that initially but now I think the price is about $1M more AAV.

This is also too cap constrained. No team is going to deploy a roster that can’t fit 23 players within the salary cap like this one does.

You rarely see teams deploy 23 guys anymore . It’s mostly 21 or 22. Wonder if they try and move Goodrow in that case

Likely sub in Othman/Cuyle over Pajuniemi, and I don't think Jones will be the 3LD at this point, I'll assume it was a mistake to swap Schneider and Trouba, but who knows with this site haha, but these are minor details. This is the most realistic if they are going to stand pat. Otherwise, I see them easily moving on from Chytil or something to try to shake things up. The cap should raise to 87.5mil allegedly after this season, so more changes will take place then.

The only issue I see here, is you probably gotta take Kravstov away, at the very least. You have to assume NYR will get some RW rental, whether it's Kane or whoever else, which is gonna cost something. At least Kravstov, or Jones... maybe both, depending who it is

Would absolutely love PEB, but I have a feeling he's gonna retire a TBL at this point

I think NYR needs to trade Trouba & Goodrow, also they may need a coach who is a little more open to new ideas & teaching methods. He can’t surround the young guys with fourth line quality teammates like Rooney, Reaves, Vesey, Hunt, Brodzinski & Carpenter every year. Pick up some younger high end talent that are reclaim projects and develop them.

My point is they still leave room for rainy days to carry a 23 player roster

Trouba has a NMC until 2024-25 and was just named captain this season. Goodrow has a 16 (I think) team no trade list and is utilized by the coaches as if he’s underpaid with the amount of responsibilities he covers.

Yes but they are not players who you want to keep long term when building a contender. Very replaceable players.

This is irrelevant.

My point is NYR need to determine their identity. If the goal is to be a dump & chase team, they should trade Lafreniere & Chytil and make their bottom 6 mostly Vesey/Goodrow/Hunt types. But if they want to keep Laf/Chytil and develop them it is better to go for players with more potential.

Slightly heavy on LaF…his struggles will keep his next deal at 2.25 - 2.5M, on a 2 year deal. Light on Chytil- can see him getting close to the Zacha deal- 4 x 4.5. Maybe even 3 x 4 (so he doesn’t go right to UFA off next deal). Pretty heavy on Miller…using Dobson as a comp- I’d say 3x 4.25M.

As far as rest of lineup- not aware of Pajuniemi being too impressive, and don’t think he’s an ideal 4th liner…can see Cullye pencilled in there- and maybe Othmann…wouldn’t rush him though
