Yes to Zona.

No to LA. I actually like CG and would target him under the right circumstances.

Nosek plays a valuable role for Boston.

Funny - i was playing with one today that had Boston sending a sizeable package to Zona for Chychrun/Hayton/Mayo. Then flipping Grizz to LA for CG and a prospect. So it was kinda neat seeing this.

That is a laughably bad trade for Arizona.

Is it though?

Hayton has been pretty big disappointment since coming into the league and showing no progress.

Despite the perception and the contract, Reilly is a solid NHL d man. Good chance Chychrun and Ghost are gone by deadline. Reilly would be usable, helpful next year to get to floor, flip at deadline next year.

Boston would probably have to add another mid level piece and give Zona their choice of what year they want the 1st. But it’s not that bad.

-First trade doesn't make a ton of sense for Boston - they're only saving $450K and getting back pretty much the same type of player in Grundstrom, but the Bruins have to add multiple picks? Even mid/late-round picks have value, I just think this deal is bad for the Bruins.

-Arizona passes. Hayton is still only 22, and they have nothing to lose by giving him enough rope to see if he can live up to being the #5 overall pick. Sending them back an expensive contract you don't need and a first 3 drafts away is really a lowball offer - I'm not gonna say that it's gonna cost a 1st to dump the rest of Reilly's deal, but I will say that he offsets enough value that Arizona would need another pick or prospect coming back to even think about this.

I could see the Kings potentially swapping Grundstrom for Zboril. Both are guys that struggle to get into the lineup for their respective teams. Both are the same age and both have 1 year remaining after their current deals before they are RFAs. Nothing added on either side.

Guy has been played as a checking line center, and been decent at it. He also has 4-5-9 in his past ten games and started earning more ice time and shifts with better linemates. He's a twenty-four year old center, and they rushed him and mishandled him. No reason to flub it further by dealing him just as he's figuring things out and looking like a contributor.

Especially for a late first several drafts away and a cap dump defenseman. Makes zero sense.

He’s 22.

If he was 24 and still playing at his current level i’d be far less interested.

4-5-9 in last 10 makes his 5-9-14 for the season even worse actually.

Then you should be thrilled to know your 2025 pick is safe from that peril.
