Apparently Vancouver is looking for roster players over picks and prospects

We’d have to give up Pettersson for that type of return, and it would be Columbus’ 2024 1st as there’s no chance they move their 2023 1st

Yes, Sillinger is a young roster player and Jiricek is potentially ready after hearing analysis of him at World Juniors. Swapping first rd picks potentially gets you a top ten prospect close to NHL ready in a deep 2023 draft.

Most likely never happen, I agree Columbus would not want to trade this years pick but if they get an extension for Horvat, someone they can pair with Gudreau, who knows. Maybe we could add if a deal was ever close, Podkolzin/Hoglander?

Why exactly are the Blue Jackets, a team currently 22 points out of a wildcard spot, trading for a rental?

Why are the Blue Jackets, currently the 31st ranked team in the NHL, including the 2023 1st rounder in a trade for a rental? That pick has one of the highest odds of becoming Bedard and at worst becomes a top pick in a franchise altering draft.

Why are the Blue Jackets, a team that you just had trading a lottery ticket for Connor Bedard, also adding in their most recent 1st rounder, taken 6th overall?

Why are the Blue Jackets, a team you have already decimated with this poorly thought out trade, then adding in Sillinger? He’s a high pedigree guy that’s already an NHL impact player at 19.

Why are the Blue Jackets, a team that you have already driven to the edge of extinction, then adding in another NHL player for good measure? Was the entire stripping of their prospect pool not enough?

I have been on Capfriendly for a while, but this is hands down the worst thought out trade I have ever seen on this godforsaken site.

WOW, tell me how you really feel. I’m assuming you didn’t read the question I asked about this only being possible with A Horvat extension. Not sure what direction Columbus is taking as signing Gaudreau doesn’t seem like a team with a complete rebuild mentality. Just thought Horvat with an extension would be pretty valuable to a franchise that has struggled to keep their talent in the past.

I read it. Why would CBJ do that and give up on their chance at Bedard and 2 of their top young prospects? They can just sign Horvat as a free agent if they really want him.

CBJ has had an awful season but you just traded away two blue chip prospects and one of Bedard/Fantilli/Michkov/Carlsson so they can pay Horvat $8M for an extra year.

This doesn’t come close to working.

Why would CBJ need to pay to trade and extend Bo. If they want him they can hope he hits the open market. It's certainly not worth anything close to this package to save from the risk of him signing before July.

this is still up there with the worst trades on this site. Bo doesn't go to a team that has any chance at Bedard and trying to turn Bo into Connor in one trade is illogical in every way. No team is moving lottery 23 picks especially not a bottom 3 team.

I would hesitate trading this package for McDavid. For Horvat it would be an absolute travesty and I would expect Jarmo to be fired on the spot.

If you replaced Sillinger with Johnson, then yeah, but if it's Sillinger instead of Johnson plus all the rest for Pettersson, I say columbus needs to add a bit more

Columbus wouldn't trade their 2023 1st for Skinny Pete either.

That’s an insane homer take and I hope you’re kidding.

This could be just the 2023 1st and CBJ says no. That pick is one of the most valuable assets in the league. This trade is so comically lopsided and yet Canucks fans are still trying to get more.

It's not worth wasting time trying to explain how bad this trade is. Expecting 3 top 10 picks for almost any player is ridiculous. Canucks fans want that for a guy who has 1 half season above ppg and is 1 year away from demanding a massive contract.

Simply put, jackets wouldn't move any of those assets, let alone for a soon to be UFA...smarter to wait until UFA and make the pitch at no extra cost in assets.

Okay, make it the 2024 1st, I should have checked what year the pack was in I admit
