Too much. They've outright said they need to move these dudes for cap reasons. Also, Boeser has really struggled the past 3 seasons or so. Could absolutely be the off-ice family stuff, which is awful, but the on-ice product has suffered as a result.

Believe EH has him in the bottom 25 for defense WAR this year.

Deal. Good value coming back to Vancouver, but Boesser hasn’t been as bad as people are making him out to be. A lot of his poor defensive results can be blamed on the overall terrible Vancouver Canucks system. His production has also been better than you would think, even in what everyone is calling a terrible down year he is on pace for 60+ points.

VAN should have to take back the AJ deal for now with a deal like that.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Boeser have an improvement with a change of scenery. Just not saying I would deal Zetterlund.

Literally just this year he’s been “bad”. Last year he was ok. Year before he was team MVP.

And they don’t need to move Boeser for scraps. JR was more referring to getting out of bad contracts like OEL and Myers to get some cap room to make some moves.

I don’t mind this trade but take away the retention

Devils decline. With the cap space we have, Boeser at that money isn’t worth the risk at the rate he’s playing at. Keep Zetterlund and let him keep developing.

I'm sorry, you're right that he was not bad 2 years ago. The last 2 (this and last) he has been hovering close to replacement level. Hardly "ok" but I was definitely wrong about his season two years ago

wrt needing to trade Boeser, maybe they don't need to, but I'm extremely confident they will. His name has been out there A LOT recently and OEL and Myers are all but unmovable, especially if you want to keep your prospects and futures.

Don’t see how a replacement level player can still be on pace for 60ish pts.

As for OEL and Myers, I think they’re getting bought out. No one is going to take those contracts unless Canucks give up huge assets like you said. Dim Jim Benning continues to screw the Canucks

Zetterlund is having a better season than Boeser.
Zetterlund is also just entering his peak years meaning he likely will remain the better player between the two for the rest of their NHL careers.
The Devils shouldn't go anywhere near this.

Well, those 60 points Boeser he may or may not end up producing at season's end comes at a very high cost to his team.
When Boeser steps onto the ice at 5v5 the Canucks get outshot, outchanced and outscored.
Playing Boeser has so far made the Canucks worse off despite his rather decent production.
Anyway, that's why Boeser is to be considered as a replacement level player.

Pretty simple: horrific defense, coupled with undeserved TOI at both 5v5 and the powerplay.

Hmmm, Johnsson and a 3rd round pick for Boeser? You think that they would do that?

No, no, we would likely still add something like Walsh or Bahl or even Foote. I just like Zetterlund's game for our bottom 6 as a good complimentary guy.
