If Toews agrees to waive, I think the Hawks accept

This team's faceoff percentage would be insane.

I honestly like Frederics game better than Toews right now. Not sure this is an upgrade.

Yes, and adding the player who is 1st in the league in faceoffs makes it even better.

Might make the team worse though.

Don't get me wrong, I love Freddies game. But if you have the chance to add that caliper of player, with playoff experience, you do it. It would absolutely be an upgrade over Freddy (Who could play 4th line just fine)

One of the better two way players in the game, he would make this team better and the best top 9 we've probably ever seen.

We know the hall - coyle - frederic line is awesome.

We don’t know that shifting coyle to the wing would be awesome.

You're not wrong, we don't know how it would work. But adding someone of Toews caliper, with playoff experience and a good chemistry guy, that's what championship teams do at the deadline.

    FYI it’s caliber, not caliper.

Young teams that lack that experience do that. The bruins are chalk full of guys that have been to cup finals.

I like cars too much tears of joy

They are full of vets. But adding another, especially of Toews' CALIBER would only benefit

Arizona would probably eat 25% of Toews' cap for the last 6 weeks of the season for a 5th in 2024; I don't know if they'll take all of Mike Reilly this year and next without you upgrading that pick, though.

Haha brakes was my first thought as well.

On paper, you’re absolutely right. That said I can see a lot of narratives where it doesn’t work.

For toews specifically, he’s getting 18 minutes a night this year, and 3 minutes of PP time. He’s not getting that in boston. Does that disrupt things for him? Maybe not, but maybe it really does.
Coyle has been great at center this year, does throwing him on the wing throw him out of whack? Probably not, but I could certainly see that happen.
Frederic has taken a huge step forward, how does dropping down to the fourth line change that?

I could see a bunch of scenarios where it hurts more than it helps. Honestly if I were going to advocate for picking up toews, the biggest bonus would be injury insurance for Krejci and Bergeron. That said, you’ve kind of got that in Zacha anyhow.
