Crazy TDL idea

Created by: Campabee
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 17, 2023
Published: Jan. 17, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I honestly think a 3 way with Montreal-Vancouver-Winnipeg could work out well for all 3 teams. Of course it would be contingent on Montreal getting a 1st from either Colorado for Monahan (which I think will happen even if Av's fans don't)

Still a "no" from the Avs. I guarantee they will not be trading a 2023 1st for Monahan - he is not going to make that much of a difference for them and they need to restock their talent pool a much as possible. There is no reason whatsoever to make a desperation trade like that this season.

Edit: Monahan is on LTIR, no one is trading a first for him. He may not play before the deadline.

Not happening since the Habs know PLD isn't resigning in Vancouver either.

EDIT** Besides that I already gave up 2 1sts in the Avs 2023 1st and Mesar, no one would give up three 1st's ++.

Monahan is on LTIR but his timeline for return is still this week as per Habs management, so he will play before the TDL and if he comes back just as strong as before the injury he will return a 1st half retained.

If he's healthy...maybe. I wouldn't trade a first for a guy who is good but can't stay healthy.

Habs fans on here realize that BOTH teams have to consent on a trade right? guys can't just have your pick of the other teams assets. It really pisses me off how smug all some of your are, u guys seem to think that Hughes is just get want ever he wants for something, We don't care that Chiarot got a first or that lehkonen got Barron that was last year this year could be completely different

Congrats on getting reported for foul language, it's not being smug when all the reports in the media by actual insiders say that those are the likely returns. It is however being smug for trolls who call Habs fans smug for just cause they don't like what the actual insiders have to say.

To flip for a futures package, I don't know what about that was so hard to understand.

ok if you want the Fld 1st we will remove the Av's 1st Mesar and Harris and just send you the Cat's 1st and Dadonov without retention

and I am seriously starting doubt that PLD would leave the jets given that they are at the top of the western conference and the fact that PLD is having a career year

trading for PLD makes 0 sense for the canucks
canucks don't want to give up future assets and I doubt a 1 for 1 trade would go down

WTH future assets are the Canucks giving up? Read the thread, it is literally Horvat (extended) from the Canucks and Drouin (half retained) from the Habs for PLD. Then the Canucks send PLD to the Habs for the package of Mesar + the Avs 1st (assuming it is in the 16-20 range) + Harris and Dadonov (half retained). Therefore the only piece Vancouver gives up is Horvat and they are getting all the futures, save for Dadonov whos deal is expiring.

Less than no chance the Jets consider moving PLD before the summer. Absolutely none.

Sure they do if they are getting Horvat (extended) and a retained Drouin back to extend their cup window and not downgrading the offense.

Avs are saying no the 1st more than no monahan

Monahan is meh. He’s not a 2c, adding him would he fine but he’s not worth this 1st nonsense

Not a chance. The team is playing well and has no reason to move him. PLD is younger and better. Why would the Jets risk rocking the boat?

You also didn't specify Horvat's extension or why he agrees to sign one at this point. His extension will likely be too much for too long a la' Miller.

You know, someone on here always says "if neither side likes the proposed deal, then it must be fair value". Since that is the case here, I guess this is a fair deal all around!

As to why the Jets do this is simple Horvat and PLD both have the same value and both have the same level of skill. Sure PLD is almost 3 years younger but Horvat would be locked up long-term instead of just having 1 more year of team control and going to walk. As for the numbers and length of his next contract, it will likely be similar to PLD's anyway as far as AAV but longer term. There is no reason to think this will upset the balance of the team other than you don't want your favorite player to leave.

Because it's a Habs agm hardly ever consider the teams involved just what makes the most fan bases confused with repeated feedback of it not happening but continue anyways

Buffalo isn’t going to want to pay a 2nd and a goalie prospect (willing to sign or not) to get worse in net.

Buffalo has zero need for Allen, they are already juggling 3 goalies on the roster right now with UPL, Comrie and Anderson. Also you're limited to 3 retained salary transactions.

I'm sure something around Portillo for a pick or prospect could work for Buffalo, but they won't be taking on a 4th goalie.
