Danny Briere Revives the Flyers TDL

Created by: Balake
Team: 2022-23 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 17, 2023
Published: Jan. 17, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Some of these trades make more sense than other but if you're actually going to retool you need to bring in talent not pray for something homegrown

CREATEDYEARSCAP HIT
Gautier, Cutter
3$935,000
Andrae, Emil
3$935,000
Trades
1.
PHI
  1. 2025 4th round pick (EDM)
EDM
  1. Braun, Justin ($250,000 retained)
  2. MacEwen, Zack ($175,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Solid depth pieces on expiring contract who add toughness, grit, and back end security much cheaper than going after the big fishes
2.
PHI
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (BUF)
  2. 2025 3rd round pick (VGK)
Additional Details:
Hayes at 50% retainment is incredible value and its been rumored many would be interested at that price. I could see the flyers retaining 50% post TDL then around 20% for years to come placing Hayes at around a 5m cap hit which is more than reasonable
VGK
  1. Hayes, Kevin ($3,571,428 retained)
Additional Details:
Rumors of Stone's injury sound scary and now seems like not the best time to sputter, but rather build around Eichel+. Flyers could take back cap in return with plenty of space at a reasonable price
3.
PHI
  1. Spence, Jordan
  2. Turcotte, Alex
  3. 2024 1st round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
Cap would need to be sent flyers direction more than likely unless LA facilitates a 3rd team to take on cap for value
LAK
  1. Frost, Morgan
  2. Provorov, Ivan
Additional Details:
It seems that both Provy and Frostys time here is coming to a close. When you head coach calls you a toilet bowl and hints on numerous occasions of the inconsistent play in many of the youth players it seems like there might be a problem
4.
PHI
  1. Hamonic, Travis
  2. 2024 4th round pick (TBL)
  3. 2025 3rd round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
Tony was brought to help[ revive whatever the flyers call a PP, and although probably not entirely the fault of his own he's played with pretty much every pair and continues to suck. Auction him off to who idk, but it more than likely will come at next years TDL
OTT
  1. Deangelo, Anthony ($2,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Flyers are probably sellers and why not take on some expiring cap
5.
PHI
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (PHI)
Additional Details:
Compensation from Gary Bettman hand delivered to Chuck Fletcher himself rewarding the flyers for their incredible drafting ability
CAR
6.
VAN
  1. Foerster, Tyson
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (BUF)
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (PHI)
Additional Details:
Boeser is worth more than the mid round picks he's projected at. New coach on the way his value should return to what it should be Rutherford came out to vow push for retool which the the flyers know all about. Foerster is projected to enter nhl this year
7.
PHI
  1. Meier, Timo
Additional Details:
extension in tow
SJS
  1. Brink, Bobby
  2. van Riemsdyk, James ($3,500,000 retained)
  3. 2024 1st round pick (FLA)
  4. 2024 1st round pick (LAK)
  5. 2025 3rd round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
Sharks likely after 23 first and more, so as the flyers keep winning and ruin their draft position for maybe a potential squeak into the playoffs, Chuck can deal the pick away like he did for our first in the Risto trade. However, as recent history as shown our picks usually don't turn out very good anyway so why tank. Sharks flip JVR as well for more assets without even retaining any salary which is dope

Try again.

Change Spence for Walker and LA would do it. Solves the cap problem and the fact that this is a giant overpayment by LA.

Philly can keep Frost.

Too many futures coming out with none of the guys coming in looking like true top end talent

Not really and overpayment. Cap issues aside, Frost is better than Turcotte at this point, and a 24 1st and Spence isn't a huge ask for Provorov in the current defense market

Thats the thing with the retool which the flyers are attempting. That elite talent probably wont come from free agency they just passed on Gaudreau which was probably right I guess. Drafting is the best bet but drafting 15th every year isn't the way to go about it.

The Kings don't need any more forwards, especially of the undersized variety. They're good keeping Turcotte. Philly can keep Frost.

You're underrating Spence. The kid has been the best defenseman in the league everywhere he has played. He was a 1st team All-Star in the AHL as a rookie. He led all Ontario Reign players this season (forwards included) in points before he was recalled to the NHL. TJ Tynan has since passed him, but he's still 2nd. The Kings are unlikely to trade him at all, let alone package him up with a 1st.

The Kings would trade Sean Durzi before they trade Jordan Spence.

Yeah you can only retain on 3 contracts each year. You seem to be 2 over the limit for this year.

Hayes 50% retained would get a much better return than two 3rds
