If Detroit wanted Rossi, We would've drafted him. He's way too small for what Yzerman is trying to build. So pass. And Beckman and a 2024 1st doesn't cut it. needs to start with your 2023 1st and work from there. Plus Larkin doesn't waive to Minnesota nor would he sign there even if Minnesoa had the cap to sign him.
Two words.
Kirill Kaprizov.
If you you think Larkin turns down a chance to play in Minnesota when there's a top franchise level winger in the league there for him to play with you're either incredibly biased against Minnesota or on something.
Which is especially true if Minnesota did in point of fact have the cap space for him. No other team in the league with enough cap space could offer a potential linemate as good as Kaprizov for Larkin to play with.
And that goes for Detroit too.
IF Minnesota had the cap space for Larkin, they'd be the most realistic chance he'd have for getting a cup. Not Detroit. Given the fact that the one thing they've lacked to be a true cup contender in the past 3 seasons is the one thing Larkin would and could provide.
A 1C.
You can hate the thought of Larkin leaving, but don't think for a second Larkin doesn't at least consider waiving. He very likely does. Especially since Minnesota is much much closer to contending than Detroit is.
Furthermore, Minnesota's prospect pool is just as highly rated as Detroit's is.
So in short, closer to contending with as bright of a future. If I were Larkin, I know which of the two teams I would prefer to play for. And it's not Detroit.
