Lafreniere is nowhere near worth $6,300,000 in 2.5 years he has way less points than Lucas Raymond has in 1.5 years. The dude is in bust territory.

So sharks are giving up a draft pick for a cap dump for a depth player? Awful for them

Edit: also easy no match for NY. NSH would be putting themselves in a worse cap situation, with an already average to bad team, and you can't protect picks lost in offer sheets.

Who knows with Lafreniere. I see NYR fans saying that They wouldn't accept a Lafreniere for Meier trade. Soooooo, yeah

Meier is a county miles better than Lafreniere, If the Sharks were willing to do Meier 1 for 1 for Lafreinere. Rangers should take that and run. At least Meier is well established.

Yeah, that's what I think. But, like I said, some NYR fans says they won't take it.

Also, If NYR fans wouldn't want a Meier for Lafreniere deal one for one and Nashville does this offer, you are losing him for a first and a third. so, I think Rangers should match if they don't think Meier is as good as Lafreniere

I think it's important to think a little deeper than just saying "They wouldn't do Laf for Meier one for one". Obviously Meier > Laf, there's absolutely no debating that.

What can be said though, is if we assume Meier signs a long term deal at $9 mil or so (Or even just goes 1 year at his QO of $10ish), then the Rangers cap situation becomes an issue. They currently have 14 players signed for 2023/24, with just over $16ish mil to play with. So, you give Meier $9, then it's $7 left with 15 guys. Chytil gets a bit of a raise (say $3.5?) and there's $3.5 left. Miller needs to be re-signed ($2 mil?) so there's $1.5 left with 6 guys left to sign...

Sure, there's absolutely a few delusional folks that are praying for a Tage-type breakout for Laf, but I have to imagine it's more the financial issues that inevitably pop up with this than it is that someone thinks that Laf is more valuable than Meier.

What's the add to the 3rd?
Or
Jersey offers RD Reilly Walsh he's a 3rd rounder who is never getting in our lineup now with Nemec and Hughes coming on the scene. Probably would have been our bottom eighties otherwise. Money is about the same.
