Add a 3rd line RW read descreption

Created by: Jake_Defranchise
Team: 2022-23 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 19, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Guys, I know Frederic is playing well, but there is no guarantee that he can sustain his success in the playoffs, while a guy like Kane is a sure bet for a solid playoff performance every night. Having Freddy on the 4th line adds a whole new identity to the team as a 4th line of Foligno-Nosek-Frederic is a sure bet for a few big playoff goals. Its not about punishing Frederic-he is a professional, he knows this is a business, the east is an arms race, and refusing to bolster your lineup because of chemistry and "not wanting to mess things up" is, at best arrogant and, at worst cowardice. Do not fall into the same trap the 18-19 Bolts did; bolster your team up.
NOTE: Team is cap compliant due to double retention on Kane, cap hit reflects all the depth pieces shown in the lineup boston is only required to have 3 counting against the cap.

hence the 4th round pick edit: also Reilly is a roster player on the canucks, is an analytics darling, just was not a fit in Boston.

Reilly went on waivers unclaimed, Going to take more than a 4th round pick to move him.

bc Kane ain't that valuable right now. He chooses where he goes, likely a similar package to what Giroux got. Zboril and Beecher both have bottom pair/third line upside.

Maybe a third, not a big deal honestly, the point of the armchair gm is to show bruins depth options and why it is important for them to get a legit playoff tested forward, not getting a Luke Schenn-Mike Reilly swap down to the perfect value

And both are worthless like Smith, Hawks will get a far better offer for Kane. Just because he gets to pick and choose his team. Doesn't diminish his return.

Giroux trade says otherwise. Kane is not the top commodity this deadline, there is not going to be a huge bidding war for him.

Without Reilly the Canucks consider that, although some teams may pay a 2nd or a 3rd and another later pick

Schenn is ideally a 7th d man on a contending team. Nobody is giving up a 2nd (in the most stacked draft class in recent memory, no less) AND a 3rd for a depth piece.

On what planet is Giroux anywhere near Kanes value? Kane is by far a better player than Giroux a future hall of famer. He'll get far better than your proposal mark my words.

We can get a 3rd without taking cap back easily, gonna have to pay more if you want us to take a cap dump

Meant either a 2nd alone or a 3rd + later round pick, not a 2nd + 3rd

Giroux's stats before being traded last year: 42 points, 18 goals in 57 games (keep in mind he is not a defensive liability like Kane)

Kane's states this year: 28 points, 8 goals in 39 games (on pace for 41 points, 12 goals in 57).

Kane has roughly the same point totals Giroux had while being worse defensively.

Got it. Still don't see anyone giving up a 2nd. Maybe a 3rd and a 7th at most.

If duds like Jeremy Lauzon can get a second, I don't see why Schenn cant

What do you reckon Horvat will get then? 48 points, 30 goals in 44 games (On pace for 62 points, 39 goals, in 57 games

Because Schenn is old and Lauzon had some upside, if Schenn was 23 with decent upside, I am sure he could get a 2nd, but given the fact he is 33 and can really only get worse it is probably closer to a 3rd or 4th.

Canucks got a third round pick for a worse, and 4 times more expensive player in Travis Hamonic last season.

Always loved Horvat, but I couldn't see Boston trading for him, given his looming free agency. However, he probably gets a first, an A or A- Prospect, and a solid roster player with upside (someone like Pavel Zacha in Boston's case). Could also see more picks, and B tier prospects being added.

the trade market is weird, I'll give you that. There is no use in debating where gms value a certain player. In my personal opinion, Schenn is worth a 4th, maybe a 3rd.
