Acceptable basis for vancouver trade - READ DESCRIPTION

Created by: herzausstein
Team: 2022-23 Nashville Predators
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 18, 2023
Published: Jan. 19, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Obviously tweaks would be needed to trades to even things out but this is where nashville is at:

Both centers - granlund and johansen - have failed to live up to last years play. Granlund has been almost exclusively at wing this season and Johansen has been given a run for his job by a trio of young players - Parssinen, Glass, and Novak.

Nashville could use more scoring punch on wing which is where the basis of Granlund for Boeser comes from. Nashville could use a center upgrade which is where the basis of Johansen @6M for Horvat comes from (could also just be based on Granlund for Horvat).

No, Nashville isnt in a position to trade a 1st or top prospects because lets face it... this team still probably misses the playoffs. We arent that good, our coach is bad, and we are being willed into contention by goaltending alone.

Nashville would have to add pretty heavily in the Horvat trade

Nashville needs a center upgrade - vancouver wants to keep horvat but dont want to pay him the money. Vancouver ownership wants to be competitive. As i said in the description, just the basis of a trade. Definitely would need tweaks. Nashville has to send out equal cap to make things work.

You'd have to pay even more to move him if that's the case.

A Boeser trade probably involves Fabbro and maybe some short term cap balancing, but a Horvat trade almost certainly involves a first and a prospect at minimum. The fact that Nashville is reportedly "in" on Horvat means they are OK with that.

To me that says that poile is delusional as to the state of the team. Nashville isnt a horvat away from being a cup team.

Likely which is why it doesnt make sense to me as a consideration. Horvat likely cost 7-8 million going forward (which is dicey since this will only be the 2nd time hes broken 60 points in his career) but either way requires atleast a granlund/ekholm/McDonagh/johansen sized contract going the other way. Otherwise, he's a rental and Nashville isnt ib the position to get a rental. Even witb horvat we probably miss the playoffs.

Johansen for Horvat isn't happening, No way does Vancouver have any interest in an aging Johansen for Horvat. Plus that offer is blown away by a country mile by teams that can offer Vancouver far better pieces than Nashville.

laugh Johansen for Horvat, Yeah on what planet does Vancouver accept that. They will get far better offers than this.
