Puljujarvi and Turcotte

Created by: Anus_McLeod
Team: 2023-24 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 19, 2023
Published: Jan. 19, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
See descriptions/logic in the trades. Trying something where the team adds younger players instead of expiring contracts at the tdl.

Mainly looking for feedback from LA fans on this one. The trade is stripped down to just the main pieces. I fully acknowledge Colorado would need to add to make it a conversation. Take a look at the additional deets in the trade for the rest of my spiel.

  1. Puljujärvi, Jesse [RFA Rights]
EDM
Either via trade or signing after he doesn't get a QO. The main point here is just to see him in the lineup.
    2.
    LAK
    1. Behrens, Sean [Reserve List]
    Additional Details:
Not sure what to add here, but the thought is that Colorado is deep at LHD and LA is not. Similarly, LA is deep at C and Colorado is not.

Turcotte is a better prospect, but Behrens isn't some slouch. He'd be a good add for LA. The tough part is making up the difference, so I'm putting out a feeler to see if there could be anything here or if it's a straight no go.

Kings would consider trading Turcotte in a package for Byram, but not someone who is unproven at the NHL level.

Byram certainly isn't happening. Aside from injuries, he's shown himself to be pretty much untouchable (unless you ask the Vancouver media, lol).

Personally I think Turcotte should be playing in Mullett Arena by now (having been traded for Chychrun), but it hasn't happened yet. But the main point is that I see where you're coming from by wanting to make a bigger add where he's one of the main pieces.

I think as the previous person noted, this wouldn’t work for LA for the same reason CO would not want to trade Byram for a package of assets. Turcotte may have injury history but his upside is still high.

That’s a pipe dream Turcotte hasn’t even proven himself to be an NHL player. I wouldn’t trade Behrens for Turcotte straight up.

But Colorado has room for Byram. Does LA have room for Turcotte? Personally I think he ends up being traded. My guess is that it will be for a bigger fish though.

Still, worth checking into to see what the thoughts may be.

It's not a pipe dream and there's clearly no deal to be made...

He can start on the fourth line just like Kaliyev then move his way up once Iafallo's deal ends at LW

We don’t have to trade Turcotte for a while. They didn’t give up on Vilardi and Kupari and they’re now performing well with LA and still growing. They’ll make room for him. However Anderson-Dolan, Madden, Andersson, and Thomas can all be had for the right price. LA doesn’t make short sighted trades with Blake at the helm.

I'm not really interested in those guys. I'm after someone like Turcotte or McMichael that is kinda buried and needs an out. Maybe Madden, but only if it's cheap.

The Avs trading Byram is a pipe dream, the Avs deciding the guy they passed on to take Byram who isn’t even an established NHL player is a massive pipe dream. Like I said the Avs aren’t trading Behrens straight up for Turcotte.

It's not a pipe dream if no one is dreaming it... Sanderson is LA's pipedream.

Yes but maybe not this year. Especially since Landy and Nuke have been out so much. Hard to develop into a 2C when the other two thirds of a second line are out too.

Don't know about that. He seems fragile and maybe the Avs who know more then us would do it. Never say never. If the Avs would do it. That would be a real warning sign about Byrams health. Might be LA who backs out.

Yes I do. 22 yrs old finding his groove with a cup champion let’s see him play with some legit top 6 talent and not be bounced around the line up. Am I disappointed in his performance this year? Production wise sure, but yeah I think he’s a 2C.
