That's about 5x what Horvat is worth to Edmonton.

tears of joy

Idk if Vancouver says yes. Add in Mcdavid and Draisaitl and maybe they consider it

I don't see Horvat being dealt within the division, It's way too much for a rental. And i seriously doubt that Horvat has any interest in committing long term with Edmonton.

It really never should happen no matter what the deal itself is.

Edmonton does not have the cap for horvat whatsoever and already have the best centre depth + top six in the league why trade assets for that?? I get the point of fear of drai leaving but in that incase just build a competent roster for him to stay instead of pouring all your assets and money into a guy hitting his peak rn.

Vancouver should not trade horvat within the division either, he's still gonna be good (though not nearly as good as he's been) and facing him 4 times a year maybe more if they get a playoff matchup will be rough for a team facing their former captain.

Horvat to edmonton is just a bad idea

Bouchard is worth twice as much as Horvat just because of his age, contract status and position. We aren’t talking about a young Luke Schenn here….

Apparently on Elliot Friedman's pod cast Horvat actually said he would be open to going to Edmonton.

No, I'm sorry Bouchard is not worth Horvat. Lets be honest with each other, Bouchard is terrible defensively but has upside, is soft but has a cannon. Horvat is an amazing 2 way player that scores and wins 60% of his draws, he's a more complete player than RNH.
Also, Bouchard is the redundant RHD on the Oilers right now.

Bouchard and the 2 1st are the only pieces of any value, Other teams will beat that offer. Ken Holland hasn't moved any of his 1st round picks since 2010 all the more reason why Horvat to Edmonton will never happen.

Edmonton has the space given a few trades that could happen.
Horvat has mentioned playing for Edmonton on Elliot's Pod cast
I think Vancouver trades Horvat to whomever gives the best deal and it will take a lot.
I'm not opposed or for the trade, I'm looking at what is the REAL cost of getting such a player.

I probably should have said trade and potential sign. I think Vancouver trades Horvat to whomever gives Van the best deal and thats what I'm looking for, what will it take?

todays game is different, assets including cheap ones are premium ask and they need to be a few for an established player. The ask for Chychrun is a prospect, a young established player and a high pick or multiple picks late 1st round picks.

Edmonton has nowhere near the $8,500,000 to $9,000,000 per to offer Horvat. So he's basically just a rental in Edmonton. He'll cost at least the Draisaitl contract if not even more.

Bouchard is not redundant imo. He may take longer than expected to reach his potential, but he definitely has more value than an expiring center who will cost 8 million on his next contract while being worth about half that in the last 3 or 4 years of the deal. Also calling Horvat “An Amazing two way player is a massive stretch.”

This is a contradicting statement...cheap assets are a premium....so we are trading premium assets for a player who is on a career high year playing for a contract that will cost 8-9M long term to sign....

When Horvat gets traded you are going to be quite upset with the actual package

Horvat really isn't a fit in Edmonton, and he's great at faceoffs, so he'd be a center. They will probably be looking at cheap depth pieces on the wings and a defenseman. I highly doubt they go after Horvat.

I totally agree with this, again just looking at a situation where the numbers & players make sense.

Ya, I don’t think I’ll be surprised or upset, he’s a 40 goal scorer, he’s 27, a great two way player & he’s a face off master. He’s going to cost big.

Bouchard is redundant, Barrie, Ceci, Desharnais, Bouchard

You can’t trade Barrie, you won’t trade Ceci, so who would other teams want? Bouchard, which makes him available because his skill set is redundant with Barrie. Not only that you have Demers in the minors should a RHD get hurt.
Friedman also mentioned Horvat may take a discount to play for a championship, 8 million isn’t out of the question but nether is 6.5

Why would anyone assume Desharnais is a better option than Bouchard

I'll send you $100 if Horvat gets traded as a UFA for 2 firsts+ their most recent 1st rounder,+ a 40 point Dman on a rookie deal + another young winger
