Galchenyuk and your scrubs doesn't get you Carter and Muzzin...
Do your research on these scrubs beforehand. Apart from Emelin you should be thanking your lucky stars if MB ever gave that up for an aging center and a guy benefiting playing with Doughty. Just McNiven alone is worth of a mid 1st rnd pick . CHL goalie of the year.
Gonna be completely honest here, did not do any research on McNiven, but the others I did. And Muzzin did not play with Doughty the majority of this year, Forbort did, only on the penalty kill Muzzin and Doughty played together. And I don't see anything wrong with developing your defensemen by putting them with one of the best in the game. I'd be doing the same thing if I was coaching.
I'm from the west coast and rarely ever watch Montreal so this is all I know about these guys.
McCarron: 2013 1st round pick (25th overall). Total of 51 career games played in the NHL and a total of 7 points (2G, 5A).
Gallagher: At least I've heard of him before. 2010 5th round pick. Total of 324 games played in the NHL and a total of 185 points (87G, 98A). That's not bad but the Kings are looking for a guy who can put up more than 20 goals a year, which I will give Gallagher credit, because he did for 1 year. But scoring barely 20 in Montreal would be like scoring 13 in LA. Just like I've seen people on here give praise to the Sabres goalies when they do well because of their "lackluster" defense, it's the same in LA. Carter scoring 32 goals this year is a miracle. If he was on an offensively oriented team (or anywhere more offensive minded than the Kings) he probably would've scored around 38-40 goals.
You said "apart from Emelin" so don't think I need to make a case about him.
I'm not saying this was a bad trade it just makes zero sense for LA. Galchenyuk I get, but the others don't make sense. The Kings still have most of the core from 2012 and 2014 so they can still win with a little help, but this just makes no sense for them if they want to do that.
