I just can't see the Devils putting that many assets into another center, where they'd have to sign him to even be thinking about giving up that much. This is not a team at the end of the window trying to cash in before it is too late....it's a team at the beginning of their window looking long term. Horvat is great, but seems overkill to have Nico, Jack, and Bo down the middle all making 7m+.

I do agree it seems difficult for NJ to make this deal. Very tricky but it might work. The could use a player like Horvat. Nemec and Hughes will be entry level for 3 years. just an interesting thought.

The trades are not supposed to make us better now, But it clears 12 million in cap space, adds a few draft picks plus we get 2 big young defenceman. To me this is more realistic than blowing it up or adding pieces to help now. It has be creative. We need young, big D, cap space and some extra picks.
