He's probably going to be difficult situationally. You'd need to retain to trade a 3+ mil bottom 6 forward at the deadline but the Red Wings are retaining on 1 deal already, Bertuzzi is likely to be gone as a 2nd and you can't help but notice Larkin hasn't signed a new contract yet. it's going to be difficult for them to retain on such a low value trade. The more likely form this takes would be a 5th for Detroit and a 3rd to a 3rd party team for the retention.

Not necessarily. Leafs have 2mill in cap with the LTIR. If they waive Simmonds and Hunt they can take the entire hit. But if they get DET to retain 1mill then no need to waive anyone

Yzerman has stated numerous times at his presser, That he has until June 30th to sign Larkin. So i'm not worried about him. Larkin has already said that talks are going very well.

Highly doubt that they trade Larkin even though he hasn't signed yet. Bert & Suter are both UFAs so the 3 full slots would go back to 1 after this season

I've been saying this for a while Suter with full 50% retention is worth about a 3rd. He is a versatile player.

Even if its not Larkin, there are 2 or 3 other pending UFAs on the Red Wings who would be worth more in a return than Suter. The problem doesn't go away just because it's not him. The Red Wings are going to end this deadline with 3 retained contracts and Suter's low value would likely make him the back of the line on deals they'd retain on.

I'm not worried about Larkin at all. Vrana maybe a little but with another year on his contract I don't see Yzerman selling him low. Bertuzzi I honestly see him signing a 1 or 2 year deal in Detroit to bring his value back up. Now regardless of what those players do Detroit still has Copp, Veleno, Rasmussen, Suter and Kasper as centers behind Larkin. So I really don't see Suter staying in Detroit as a center. With Fabbri playing really well since his return and Kubalik performing like he did in his rookie season and then you have Berggren, Soderblom, Perron, Raymond, Sundqvist and Erne. With Sundqvist and Erne are checking line players maybe one of them gets traded but Suter will not replace one of them on the checking line. So with Suter in the final season of his contract and a UFA I don't see him in Detroit next season regardless of what the players with uncertain futures do. But that's just my opinion.

Not really sure what you're talking about, removing Larkin (cause he won't be traded) and Bertuzzi (he'll likely take up one of those spots), Suter is the highest paid UFA and imo the best pending UFA outside of the two just named. There are not 2-3 other pending UFAs that would be worth more
