That would certainly get Elias imo

That’s almost 5 1st rounders in value

It's seems like a big package, but Kaut is kind of a bust, and Canucks won't put much value in another small LHD when they have Hughes already, and OEL (unfortunately) as LD2.

It's really Girard, 3 late 1sts, and three C-tier prospects who are already 24, 23, and 22 years old with no NHL impact yet.

Trading an arguably franchise C would almost certainly require at least one bluechip piece in return, no?

Except, the Canucks have no interest in trading him, so it wouldn't get him.

It's garbage, Pettersson would start with both Newhook and Byram. Not a bunch of lesser pieces.

Yup. Byram, Newhook, 1st, 2nd is getting close. And honestly would be a hell of a deal for the Avs.

Heck if Detroit went after Pettersson it would start with Seider not a bunch of lesser pieces like this.

In 2017 the Canucks had Makar ranked 1st overall and the Avs' biggest hole was their 2C spot. Imagine if you took Pettersson then and we took Makar, both teams would have a nasty duo.

1C - MacKinnon
2C - Pettersson

1LHD - Hughes
1RHD - Makar

Would be an interesting switch that shakes up the look of both teams a lot.

Quality>Quantity. A bunch of late firsts won't cut it, no matter how many

Girard, Newhook, Kaut and the three 1sts might do it or at least start up a serious conversation. Otherwise there isn't enough quality there. Newhook would logically be available in this scenario as Petey replaces him at (future) 2C. Annunen the Avs would want to keep as they have no other serious goalie prospects (and that's not saying they wouldn't trade him just they'd want to keep him), and unproven goalies generally speaking don't add much value to trades, it's too much of a 'gamble' position. Nobody can say where the three firsts would end up being in the draft though bar another injury riddled season you'd expect them to be low picks, low to mid at best. Kaut, whilst not yet a bust is close to it, even if he's a former 1st rounder. Still has time yet but it's running out fast. The Avs would have some issues when Toews and Petey are both due but it's not impossible to work (also another reason the Avs would need to keep Annunen to cheaply replace Francouz).

If it was going to be a one for one it'd be Seider. Could also be a package of multiple picks, prospects, players.
