Kane has never played LW in his career and I don't think he starts now.

Considering Kane is hurt himself, MAJORLY bad idea. That gets any worse, and you're an Aho away from one of the best lines in hockey being stached in your LTIR

Regarding that Kane trade -

Replace Drury with Bokk
You can keep D prospect Heimosalmi, Hawks have plenty of their own
Throw in the 2024 Philadelphia 2nd rounder.

Thus equates to a Giroux like return from last TDL.

Of course, this is all dependent on Kane returning to form in the next 5 weeks.

he has a hip impingement labral tear he's been playing through for a couple of seasons; a lot of the general population has this. Pain management, rehab training is what he's been relying on, doesn't really get worse so to speak. He opted not to do surgery in the offseason as he would be out 3 to 4 months. He took a bad hit on the hip last week and decided to rest it as the Hawks are obviously tanking so the pain to play through it isn't worth it. His performance is probably more related to him being disengaged...you can see it on the ice.

I watch him first hand quite often, disengaged is a pretty accurate term for last month plus. Not sulking but just the realization of the surroundings. I really do think playing in meaningful games and playoffs gets him snapped back to a true difference maker.

Agree. You can tell he won't even chase the play anymore. If he has the puck he pushes but outside of that he's not doing much out there.

He should have had the surgery like Marchand did. Tough to play at a high level in mid 30s with lingering hip issues

Debatable honestly...nobody but Kane knows how bad it is painwise other then in the last 2 years he's missed a couple games after a blow to that hip. The majority of the population do not repair theirs (albeit not pro athletes). My wife had hers done, I did not have mine done while we both aren't pro athletes, we train 5 days a week like clockwork. Hers was much worse than mine. Point is, hard to say how bad his is.

Marchand said he had pain for years and doctors said not having surgery would end his career sooner than later. Kane looks like a shell of what he was even last year. I guess we will find out this offseason

Which is exactly why no one should be going near him. The playoffs are more physical than the regular season. One hit on that hip from a Tom Wilson and that would be the end of his playoffs this season. There are other options, guys that are healthier that will cost less that are not having a down year due to their injuries,

I think his play this season has a lot more to do with the state of CHI's roster, a lack of chemistry with anyone in CHI currently, the incessant losing, his contract being up at the end of the season, and the prospect of no longer being a Hawk which he has been his entire adult life. But yeah, his hip is definitely a concern and he really should consider surgery in the near future if he wants to play another 10 years. Even if he doesn't want to play another 10 years, his quality of life will probably be better after surgery. As someone that lives with chronic pain, I know how eye opening any sort of relief can be.

Possibility but unlikely. He's been playing through this for a season in a half already

One hit from Tom Wilson could end anyone's playoffs this season.

It doesn't even have to be a big hit. Playing through an injury with what Kane is going to cost isn't worth it.
