Alternative idea is Perron for Holtz, but I figured NJ would want the younger guy who also has playoff/Stanley Cup experience.

I really like Perron for a contender, but it has to be the right fit. I mean, he'd be a fit on any contender really.. but Detroit would get more than just Holtz for him, unless Holtz still has tremendous promise.

Devils would not traded holtz for an aging veteran makes no sense if anything they trade for Meier or horvat

Bad deal for both teams. Detroit shouldn't use up a retention slot for that long and NJD shouldn't trade Holtz.
