Serious question: what’s the value difference between Dumba and Kuzmenko? Because, Shaw and Schenn can’t be TOO far apart and I just can’t believe the difference between Dumba and Kuzmenko is a 23 1st…

I don't think there is any way Kuzmenko gets a first being undrafted and only 43-50 games experience. Now to be fair I haven't watched him if hardly at all but a 1st seems like a major overpay...IMO

Wild to me that a fan who cheers for the team Kaprizov plays for is going to assume a player isn’t good due to lack of NHL games, without even watching the player first?

Nearly zero chance the pick involved is a first. Now, if you take Dumba out, it's probably a first, but MN can get a first for Dumba so it would probably be two separate deals.

No way MN is leaving this season without a 1st rd pick in hand for these next two cap hell years unless it is a very low cost controlled scorer they can make work with the cap.

Kaprizov did win the Calder his rookie season and was well known around the hockey community to be an elite player before even coming to the NHL. Like I said in my original post "Now to be fair I haven't watched him if hardly at all"....he may be worth 10 1st round pick I don't know, but I find it hard to believe considering he isn't a well known name around the league, that he wasn't drafted and didn't sign with VAN till this year. Seems like more a risk with him vs Kaprizov.

I disagree with Kuzmenko not fetching/being worth a 1st. We just saw Brandon Hagel, with less impressive numbers, fetch 2 firsts and 2 prospects/young players last year

Kuzmenko may not have quite the youth or the term Hagel did but he's dirt cheap right now and the main focus of the deadline is improving RIGHT NOW

Kuzy could fetch a 1st. He's a pretty damn good player. Shifty and can finish.

Obviously he's not Kaprizov, but he's pretty well known at this point and his nearly ppg.

Ok let me clarify, he may very well get a first and more at the TDL in another trade what I was referring to was the the trade in this post...As @MNBassman said the "the difference between Dumba and Kuzmenko" I don't think its a 23 1st.

And yes most of the trades around the TDL like the Hagel trade are crazy most of the teams buying tend to overpay for that extra push at improving right now. And for this deal in the post I just don't see it happening not at that price, if the Wild are going to give up a first I would expect Horvat, even though I think the Wild shouldn't trade for him being that we could never re-sign him....but that is for another day.

I agree with the notion that the Wild shouldn't be in the running for the title of biggest buyers or really buying at all at the TDL but this is Capfriendly, and it's all really just hypotheticals and fantasy

Regardless, about the trade itself: The problem with a Dumba-Kuzmenko trade base is that if Kuzmenko is traded out, I highly doubt Vancouver would want to take pending UFA's that aren't legit cap dumps as a Kuzmenko trade on top of an inevitable Horvat trade signals at least a quick rebuild/tank on Vancouver's part. Bringing in a top 4 dman doesn't help that. So in a vacuum I'd agree that the difference in value probably isn't a 1st. And Shaw's more valuable to the Wild's roster than he is on the trade market imo. I think Schenn would likely fetch a fair but more

And to break it down further, i think Kuzmenko's value is probably a 1st+, and I could see Schenn fetching upwards of a 2nd. Dumba could MAYBE return a 1st, but that might have to include retention. Shaw, again, probably doesn't have much value in an actual trade. So not only is Vancouver (imo) giving up much more value in terms of players in this swap but also eating over $4M in salary cap.
