Trades
1.
DET
  1. Draisaitl, Leon
Additional Details:
Additional Details:
Edmonton can't afford to extend leon and Conner. Holland loves Larkin and he would be quite a bit cheaper than ld, which is where the value is on a cash strapped team.
2.
DET
  1. Nylander, William
Additional Details:
Bert comes back to form after missing a few games and looks like himself again.
Leafs can't afford to resign nylander.
This also gives Toronto some extra cap space to make some get more players.
3.
DET
  1. McLeod, Michael
Additional Details:
Jersey has plenty or centers and needs goal scoring.
NJD
  1. Kubalik, Dominik
Additional Details:
Kuby is a cheap goal scorer at a 25+/60 pt pace with another season at 2.5 mil.

Vrana starts looking like his old self

If the Oilers trade McDavids BFF Drai then theres zero chance he re signs. Plus zero chance Larkin sings in Edm.

Larks would sign with the guy who drafted him. Do you really think mcd re-signs anyway. Mcdavid / Larkin might give you something Leon never could as good as he is.

Yeah let's give up a 60 point Dominik Kubalik for a 30 point Center in McLeod that we don't even need.

Take far more than a UFA Larkin and Hagg to get Leon Draisaitl out of Edmonton. Even Ken Holland isn't that dumb.

It would cost Bertuzzi++ to get William Nylander out of Toronto.

Vrana for Brock Boeser, Hell yeah.

I think you need to reevaluate that statement. " Even Ken Holland isn't that dumb". Remember he's the guy who traded Kyle Quincy for ANDREI VASILEVSKIY!

Yeah that was definitely his dumbest move around, other than giving Abdelkader that worthless contract. I retract what i said. Yeah he is that dumb.

McDavid and Drai are the top 2 in points not sure what Larkin would give that's better than that. It's a coin flip McDavid re-signs but making the team worse while trading his very good friend makes the odds of him re-signing nose dive. I'm taking 3 extra years of a top 5 player in the NHL than a half season of a top 70 player who won't resign. Plus in 3ish years the cap is supposed to go up by 10 million.

Actually those laughs wouldn't be at Stevie, they would be laughs of joy since Ken Holland gets to kick some tires. Ultimately, the deal gets done, but only because Ken Holland, who said (and I quote) "trades are hard."

The only ones that have a chance and it’s very slim is the Kubalik trade and the Kings trade. The rest are horrendous… the Draistel trade is hilarious and the Nylander trade is bonkers. 🤣🤣🤣

I’m not sure I get where your rational is at with the Edmonton deal…. Larkin’s next contract will be at or more than what Draisaitl gets paid and last I checked he’s got several more years left on his deal and so does Connor…..

My rational is that ken Holland is the gm. If it was anyone else, it would never happen, with Holland there is a chance. He drafted Larkin and makes horribly lopsided trades based on loyalty or whatever to guys he has drafted.
I believe Leon has two more years after this. It's not soon though. I personally don't think either Mcdavid or Leon re-signs with Edmonton unless some big changes happen.

We can only hope. This is based on him doing so.

But Draisatl is signed through 2025 and Mcdavid is signed through 2026….. re-signing them is a long ways away to be making a trade for a guy to replace Leon that will probably command a contract for the same amount or more.

Nobody wants to be in Hollands shoes in a few years with loosing them both or having to pay ld 12-13 mil one year and cmd 15-16 the next along with all the young guys coming off elc. He knows Larkin and can get him tied up for 7 or 8 yrs and have cap room he needs. This is a big picture deal. Not saying it's perfect . Something to start with and make you think. Leon scores lots of points. Larkin is a different kind of player and someone Holland is familiar with.
