Description
I've said many times that I think Horvat to Seattle is not an especially likely outcome. While Horvat would be a fantastic fit for providing a strong net front presence as well as help with faceoffs, Seattle's not really in a position to spend premium assets on pricey rentals, as they are still a young team whose true contending window still lies in the future. To me that makes him more of an offseason target. However, the Kraken do seem to be at least interested in him this deadline. Presumably any trade would also come with a hearty extension. Horvat-to-Seattle ACGMs have cropped up repeatedly recently, mostly from Canucks fans, so I thought I'd take a look at this trade from a Kraken fan's perspective.

First things first, Seattle is almost certainly NOT trading Shane Wright for Bo Horvat. Just because a talking head from ESPN posted a cryptic message on Twitter doesn't mean Wright is on the move. Horvat, for as good of a season as he is having, doesn't warrant a player of Wright's caliber. From everything we have seen and heard in Seattle, Wright and the team are working in sync and finding the best path for his development, and he will be a key part of Seattle's future, not Vancouver's.

Moving on to the trade proposal itself, I tried to fill the Canucks' needs as much as possible without removing key pieces of the current Kraken roster. Vancouver reportedly wants youth at C and RD, plus draft picks. I've included Morgan Geekie as a young center, he's had a fine season but has gotten rotated out of the lineup lately due to the emergence of Eeli Tolvanen. Ty Nelson is a quite good RD prospect, he was drafted in the 3rd round last year but was pegged as an early 2nd rounder going into the draft. Seattle's 2023 1st rounder was included as the premium future asset, though I put some protections on it to guard against a late season slide. Finally, a 2024 3rd rounder was added to incentivize Vancouver to retain half of Horvat's salary and reduce the blow of trading him to a divisional rival. The price is a bit more than I'm comfortable with personally, but if Seattle really is going to pursue Horvat at the deadline it might take something like this.

As always, constructive feedback is appreciated. Cheers and Go Kraken!
Trades
SEA
  1. Horvat, Bo ($2,750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
This trade is being done under the assumption that Vancouver won't let teams work out an extension with Horvat prior to the deal, however I expect GMRF will try his hardest to extend Bo if he trades for him.
VAN
  1. Geekie, Morgan
  2. Nelson, Ty [Reserve List]
  3. 2023 1st round pick (SEA)
  4. 2024 3rd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
2023 1st is top-16 protected; if Seattle's 1st round pick falls within the top-16 i.e the lottery, Vancouver will instead receive Seattle's 2024 1st round pick.

It's not a bad offer, and I would take that, but I think it lacks the high end piece the Canucks want

I have been trying to find a trade that makes sense for both teams and I can't. I think van wants on high end talent coming back. Plus the 1st round pick has to much protection, maybe top 5 protection. I think Wright has to be involved but van would include hoglander maybe more. But I see why Seattle wouldn't do this. Can't see these 2 teams making a horvat trade. Both teams are still building for the future and I think Seattle will do it the right way. They seem to have a smart front office..... vancouver not so much.

Good value, however I'd imagine the Canucks would want to the price to be higher if they are giving their captain to their closest divisional rival,
