Monahan is a cap dump and injured again. He isn't worth a 1st under any circumstances and definitely isn't worth a better player than him and a first.

You're likely stuck with Monahan.

Please go watch more hockey...

This is terrible for the jets completely unrealistic (1st for an injured guy that got dumbed) jets would rather pursue toews for the increased cap for less than this. Good luck trading an injury prone Monahan tho definitely not gonna be let down by the return lol. I love how 1 offseason completely changed Habs fans from being modest with returns in their minds then hughes gets an overpay and now assumes he gonna do it all over again with worse players

Can't watch hockey with him in it of he's injured eh. I should watch his Calgary highlights so I can see what shell of a player he is now and how montreal fans feel he's worth 1st plus if he's so valuable keep him must be hard to replace

My only thought is that Lowry would take Barron's place in the top-6, which would be an upgrade, and Monahan would C the 3rd line over Lowry, which wld also be a slight upgrade.

Not overly sure the upgrade is worth the price, will be interesting to see what the market is this year. Domi buy without losing a roster player would be something I would look at. Veteran leadership of toews or monahan never a bad thing, but possibly not a fit yet.

The fact that you side with him in thinking that a guy with 17 career points is better than Monahan, injured or not, tells me all I need to know about you. Goodday sir

I have a feeling this years market will be very underwhelming, too many sellers not enough realistic buyers.

I never said he was better but with the team winning and in the position it is a lateral move for him and a first isn't the type of upgrade we need we need a toews plus a scoring winger and with Monahans injuries gl to whoever has him long term because sure he can be okay not 1st round pick quality tho

Too much for Monahan, I know the return has been discussed already in this thread, but the guy isnt the same player he was in Calgary and really hasn't been that great in 4 years. Sure he's put up points, but he's still a negative defensively and is often injured. The flames had to pay a 1st to get rid of him and all of a sudden he's worth a first? I think he probably goes for a 3rd, second at most with retention
