I feel that offer gets beaten pretty easily at this point.

No it won’t. The 10M QO is going to terrify teams.
Comparable trade last season in Fiala and Debrincat.
Middle of the 1st and an established goal scorer that can be flipped for an early 2nd or a B+ Prospect.

It will get beaten very easily. Debrincat got 7th over all meier would be less because teams we'd be trading with won't have a pick that valuable. Grier is also letting teams negotiate extensions before making trades so the QO is a non-factor now. The sharks are going to want futures or we would just keep timo if we only got a return like this

Debrincat was also, you know, under contract. It also blew up in Ottawas face

I wouldn't trade for meier, or sign him long term (if I am buffalo), but his trade value is much more in the fiala/Reinhart compensation.

The fact that he needs a new contract limits his list of destinations too

Boy oh boy are you in for a rude awakening when this trade happens.

The QO doesn’t become a non issue if you let teams negotiate…. Bc the QO gives Meier leverage in those talks, which leads to a bigger AAV, which leads to less value going back in the trade.

These 1yr from UFA bridge deals just make player value plummet.

Still the common areas of offers that are being thrown around in the "hockey insiders" media releases are a 2023 first a good/great prospect + a third asset depending on the prospect with good fits being the following teams:
Buffalo
Carolina
Detroit
New Jersey
Toronto

Doubt that gets it done for Timo, don't think they would want Olofsson, probably someone younger. And some of those signings. Would love to sign Cozens long term but I don't think he gets that. Think Timo should be there 8.5 to 9, and why are you giving 3m to Okposo

SJ is going to extend Meier unless he doesn't want to be in SJ. Keeping him is much better than this offer. Needs a decent prospect attached.

The QO isn't really a point of leverage against a team who has yet to acquire him. For the sake of the argument, let's say it is, you're making the assumption that Meier doesn't come to an agreement with any of the teams but still gets traded.

Whether or not Meier gets more than this is yet to be seen but it would be baffling if Grier trades for Olofsson who is a year away from ufa instead of the futures you said he's worth. They wouldn't have any leverage in an Olofsson trade and his value should also plummet like in Meier's case. So if they accept a deal with Olofsson, he should only be a sweetener.

I love Timo, but I don't think Buff can do it, because we have to pay Dahlin and Power in 1 year. Dahlin is getting at least 9-9.5 right off the bat.

Not enough of a trade return for SJ and no the QO doesn’t matter because they’ll negotiate an extension beforehand . Gonna be an A- prospect and a 1st at least

Dahlin is due only 3-3,5 raise. This will be covered by Okposo cap hit reduced from 6 mil to vet min.
Power should take bridge deal, similar to Dahlin (3x6) and wait for cap raise before taking 8yrs deal. Then Skinner`s deal is gone.

Sabres do have cap space for another 7-9 mil AAV player.

The Hawks got a high 1st and high 2nd. The high 1st is enough of a quality piece to do the heavy lifting

How exactly is the QO a "non-factor"?

It's definitely a factor. Meier and his agent will DEFINITELY be using it in any contract negotiations.

I mean they will be using it but he according to serivalli will likely be between 8-9 mil on the cap hit, I meant more so the 10 mil qualifying offer won't scare teams away from trading because it won't be unknown whether they can afford to sign him or not.

The Devils alone offering a 1st and Holtz beats that.... The Devils wouldn't be as terrified as those other teams as they have room for a $8-9m guy, and they have Swiss players Timo knows. He was on a line with Nico Hischier.
