Bratt for Terry could be close but not sure either team says yes

Henrique and Stolarz for Blackwood and Johnson certainly don’t work at all — essentially 2 cap dumps for a guy who could get a 1st 50% retained and a solid backup who could get us a 3rd/4th

Think there is a lot of overpayment in these. May be what's needed to get these players but not sure its better for us. Just an opinion

VAN - I honestly don't know enough about Kuzmenko, other than topline bio, few highlights, etc. Not sure how signable he would be for NJD, so hard to assess that piece. Schenn is basically another Smith, not something we should pay a whole lot for. Sharangovich and 1st may get better players with term. So I'd lean towards, "pass" here.

ANA - Bratt will never be traded in-season. That would go against everything we know about Tom Fitzgerald. Maybe in off-season if we cannot extend for some reason, but I don't see that as likely (and if we did, we would get a lot less than we hope for him).

SJS - I doubt Holtz is included, but I would do similar amount, if not more, for Meier if he comes with extension.

Devs probably don't get another look, as the acquiring team will push hard to resign him (maybe even require it as part of the trade), but Id rather NJ wait the Meier saga out. If he goes UFA after 23 24 season, NJ should still be in position (with the Cap room) to sign him (assuming Fitz plans appropriately, which he has proven to do so far). I just dont like giving up all these assets for that crazy contract. I think it will hurt NJ long term. Doesn't seem Fitzgerald's methodical style.

Bratt is a really nice player but there's no reason for us to exchange Troy Terry for him. As my esteemed friend @GeneralLandro says, the rest of that deal is awful for Anaheim.

Really no reason for Anaheim to do that. Bratt for Terry exchange is a maybe, Bratt has been the better points producer so far but Terry the better scorer, they are both late round hits who can scratch at 1 PPG Average over the course of a season.

Even if you are sitting on the fence that says Bratt is the better player, the cap difference between them eats up any excess value in Bratt, then Anaheim is exchanging a top 6 player still under contract and a solid goalie on an amazing deal for an AHL player and an injury riddled goalie that costs way more against the cap.

This deal makes our team worse now and in the future, we decline.

I can understand the contract situation for Bratt impacting, but Bratt is an overall better player than Troy Terry on both ends of the ice, and it is t necessarily close. Both have another year (?) of team control, but Bratt provides more points, plus double GAR and WAR.

We're not saying Terry is the better player, but Bratt is not so far above and beyond Terry as to justify getting Henrique and Stolarz while also dumping Blackwood and Johnsson. You're talking about getting 2/3 of our top line and a healthier backup goalie for effectively one player and some negative assets.

Saying that Bratt is better than Terry offensively "and it isn't necessarily close" is belied by the actual facts, when one player has scored 34% of his team's points and the other 30%, and the guy who has scored at the higher rate is playing on the much weaker team (both offensively and overall) and is named Terry. If you want to argue that Bratt is better offensively, fine, but to say that "it isn't necessarily close" is offensive as well as counter-factual.
