COL counters with Kaut for Slaf. COL is never giving up a 1st for a cap dump that hasn’t played in a month and a half hasn’t been healthy in years and hasn’t produce in years. It isn’t happening. Stop cut and pasting such a nonsensical trade.

Ken Holland hasn't traded a 1st in over 13 years, And he's not trading no 1st for Edmundson either.

And Monahan is currently injured. Absolutely no way does Monahan return a 1st round pick.

I’ll be back at the deadline to lol at the comments.

Nobody was trading a 1st for chiarot last year, remember? And remember Lehkonen? There’s a long history of bad trades being made at the deadline. See you all on March 3rd!

LOL Zito gave up a 1st for both Chiarot and Giroux. And look where it got him. Swept by Tampa in the 2nd round.

I didn’t say it was a good idea. Is the point here to be smarter than GMs or just on par? Because we can all agree the bar is set fairly low.

Caps hard pass. Mantha is all sort of better than Dadonov. They aren't trading him for Dadonov and if they are, MTL is throwing in the 2nd.

1. Holland traded a 2nd last year for Kulak! Never say never. Two more years left with Draisaitl, they should not be picking in the 1st round. They need to turn picks and prospects into immediate help. Not saying it’s the responsible thing to do but the time is now to go for it. Edmundson is the prototypical dman that fetches a 1st at the deadline and every year people still say “nobody’s trading a first for him.” It’s widely speculated, a matter of when not if.

2. Monahan expected to return soon. Listen to some insiders, they’ll say otherwise regarding him not fetching a 1st . If he’s healthy for all of February, somebody will bite for sure.

Why would a rebuilding Hawks team give up two 2nd's for Dvorak and Hoffman? That makes less than zero sense! I'm not even sure the Hawks would take them as cap dumps if it was Montreal adding 2 two 2nd's

The Caps need a cap dump to be able to activate John Carlson from LTIR. At 5.7M and having been scratched lately, he’s a prime candidate. Washington loves their Russians and dadonov at 2.5 for very few assets is about the best they can expect to do at the deadline given their cap crunch.

Being speculated the hawks are interested in bringing in Dvorak - hometown boy, decent 2 way Center, good at faceoffs. They still need to reach the cap floor next year remember and will have 20M off their cap (when Kane and Toews are traded). Was traded for a 1st and 2nd a year and a half ago. Habs weren’t the only team involved there. There was and still is a market for him. Couple 2nds may be overdoing it but I don’t think his value has dropped that much. Hoffman can be reclamation project and flipped at next deadline as a rental

These aren't hypotheticals for the most part, a lot of rumblings around Montreal right now. A matter of when, not if for most of these trades.

If they move anyone it will be Eller, not Mantha.

One of the worst Mantha trades I’ve seen. Downgraded and giving up the better pick? Sign me up. Lol

Or just …. Trade Mantha. We don’t need to move Mantha then add a worse player. Hab fans are funny

The cap is a real thing, you know that right? Could just leave Carlson on LTIR I guess.

I do think it’ll be Mantha traded, not Eller. And ok ok we’ll dispose of Dadonov elsewhere. Calm your titts

Speculated by who? Certainly no one reputable. I can promise you Hawks aren't spending high picks on any players. Hawks will have plenty of options to reach the cap floor without giving up valuable 2nd round picks.

Yeah they took advantage of stupid gm's last season and everyone saw how that worked out for those teams. It's going to be a lot harder to do it a 2nd year in a row. Teams are gonna be very hesitant to trade with Montreal after they made a fool out of everyone they traded with last season.

Oh yeah, decades of bad trades and suddenly Kent Hughes shows up and everybody instantly smartens up. Colorado doesn’t look too foolish with that bling 🤑
