Jets shouldn't do that, doubt that'd interest Chevy.

Why in the world would Detroit make that Chycrun trade, so not a good move for them.

The Chychrun trade is terrible for Detroit.
Not sure Zadina gets a second, but he is cost controlled for 2 years and surely produces well enough for the price even on the 4th line.

Other trades seem fair.

There's no way Yzerman is giving up Kasper and 2 1st for Jakob Chychrun, Sorry but we're not hurting at LD. I'm entirely comfortable with Edvinsson, Wallinder and Johansson on our left side.

And no way does Zadina return a 2nd round pick, Right now we'd be lucky to get a 4th/5th round pick for him.

There is probably very little chance Winnipeg's 23 1st is in play for a rental.

Why would a non playoff team pay a 4th round pick for a rental goalie they could've had for free a week ago

Winnipeg doesn't touch that.

It's likely the Suter and Maatta get traded but not to those teams. Suter will probably goto Pittsburgh or maybe Toronto. Edmonton, LA , Carolina and NYR are looking to add some depth to their defense at a reasonable price so I'd guess Maatta goes to one of them.

Vrana has another season left on his contract so there is no reason to make that trade right now.

Both Detroit and Arizona decline that trade.

No is giving up that much for Ned or Zadina .

So ned passes through waivers but now he gets back a 4th. Vrana passes through waivers but now he gets back Yamamoto your logic is flawed.
Also isles aren’t adding
If they were they wouldn’t add a LHD
And if they were they wouldn’t trade a 2 and a 3 for maatta

Both waivers transactions mean little.

With Vrana, he passed through because any team that claimed him had to be cap compliant, and had to have him on the roster for 30 days. Since he cleared, he can now be traded and kept in the minors to condition.

Ned is a bit different. He is goaltending depth that can be called up if some injuries occur, and sent back down without clearing waivers if he is up less than 30 days. Why is this important? If injuries to the 1 or 2 goalie do happen, the team can keep the AHL team with competent goaltending without disrupting too much.

That’s very nice that these players can be sent down without clearing waivers. Teams don’t pay assets for a 5m+ player to help their AHL team 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

They aren't paying 5 million. It is less than half that since more cap is available later in the season for most teams.

In the Vrana situation, any team acquiring him is hoping he turns it around and comes back up fully contributing. The risk is minimal for a player who clearly has had elite goal scoring in his past.

Ned is insurance. Even without the mid season cap savings, he can be kept in the AHL for under 2 million. Let's say your #1 gets injured for a few weeks. Hopefully your #2 can shoulder the load. In Vancouver's situation, they are not making the playoffs, so the focus is on tomorrow's players. Who do you call up? A young goalie who just rides the pine? An older AHL ceiling veteran? In either case, Ned makes it easy. Call the young goalie up for a cup of coffee if he can get the start; call up Ned/older goalie to be backup. You keep your stability in the minors either way. Since Ned arrived at Grand Rapids, players are able to perform better because they no longer have that fear of any mistake ending up in their net. Don't underestimate stability in the minors. Plus:added bonus...Ned could return to his 2020 form.

You have the most flawed flawed logic I’ve ever seen. But I’ll address that later for now I’ll prove you wrong. Not a single gm claimed them. If any gm thought like you neither would be in GR they’d be elsewhere with a different team.
Now for your logic. Why should a gm if they want an AHL goalie trade a 4th rounder for a player who will cost them 2m in dead cap and they aren’t even trying to win games. Why are they trading any picks if they aren’t trying to win and certainly not for an AHL PLAYER. You really don’t get this do you, nobody’s ever done this and there’s a reason for that. As for the Vrana deal if Edmonton wants him bc they think he can play like he was before the injury then they would’ve just claimed him. And if they didn’t want him for whatever reason why are they now giving up Yamamoto for him. You aren’t thinking this through. Him now being waiver exempt for 30 days is useless to them bc they don’t want someone taking up 4m playing in the AHL. You found one minuscule advantage now that they’ve passed through waivers yet ignored all the information that the waiver process provided. You also have completely ignored these trades from the other teams pov.

Absolutely not on the Arizona trade. Add a 3 Rd to the Colorado trade to get retention. Suter gets a 3 Rd without retention anyway. Everything else looks good.
