Description
With the Year of the Rabbit now upon us, I thought I'd take a look at a potential trade target for the future for Seattle.

As a new team, the Kraken don't have a ton of goalie prospect depth, as goalies take much longer to develop. With that in mind, I think Erik Portillo would make sense as a trade target, as he doesn't appear willing to sign with Buffalo, the team that drafted him. If the Kraken can sign him, he'd be a good add to their growing farm system for the future.

As always, constructive feedback is welcome. Happy Lunar New Year to all those who celebrate!

See trades like Jack McBain or Nathan Smith as comparables for acquiring a solid college prospect who won't sign with the team that drafted them. It's more than a 6th. It would be in the 3rd-4th round range. I would trade him for Borgen? Not sure if that would interest Seattle though

Seattle definitely won't be trading Borgen back to Buffalo or anywhere else, he's seized his opportunity and become a key defenseman for the team. However I do understand how the Sabres would want a higher pick, and could bump it up if that's what was needed; maybe swapping Washington's 6th rounder with Colorado's 4th rounder, for example.

Would hope to get a 3rd or 4th for him, or an interesting prospect who's fallen out of favor. I.E. there's been a lot of MTL/BUF posts with a Portillo/Luke Tuch swaps, which sounds fun at least.

Ideally he signs in Buffalo tho! You're right tho he'd be a good add to yours or any other farm system

I think that would be about market value. Glad Borgen has found a home, I loved him as a prospect and really hoped he would carve out a role in Buffalo but I'm very happy he's doing good things for the Kraken
